    1. [GATWIGGS] Early Twiggs Records (1810-1850)
    2. I read that the Twiggs Courthouse burned around 1900, destroying most records. Does anyone know the extent of this damage, and if there are any death, marriage, and probate records available or existing anywhere for the years between 1810 - 1850?

    3. There is information in the Washington Memorial Library in Macon GA. There are some microfilmed records. Hope this helps. Yes, the records did burn. Bess Vaughn Clark has done some very good books in an attempt to reconstruct these records with several books. betty in ga Gemcolleen@aol.com wrote: > I read that the Twiggs Courthouse burned around 1900, destroying most records. > Does anyone know the extent of this damage, and if there are any death, > marriage, and probate records available or existing anywhere for the years > between 1810 - 1850? > > ==== GATWIGGS Mailing List ==== > Visit the Twiggs County GAGenWeb Archives > http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ga/twiggs.htm > We welcome your material! > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237
