Wesley D. was born 1804 in SC (county unknown) but migrated through GA to Dale Co. AL by 1834. He settled in Walton Co. FL by 1854. Wesley's spouse, Rachel, was born in GA (county unknown.) I recently saw a posting for Joel Carter, b. April 15, 1810 in Twiggs Co. GA, (parents John Carter and Zippah Benson ?); and also Rebecca Carter b. Aug. 30, 1811 in Twiggs Co. (parents unknown). Did either of these Carters have a brother named Wesley D. Carter? I can only speculate on the circumstances of the migration from SC. I tend to go with the theory that as a youngster, Wesley accompanied his parents, and that they lived for a time in GA. He may have met and married Rachel in GA and together, they moved on to Dale Co. AL where they started their family. Their children are Lemuel, Emily A., Leonard, Emanuel A., Edaline, and Lenia --in case some names are repeated from earlier generations. Hope someone can help! Good luck and thanks to all.
