I was browsing through the re-recorded deeds on the Twiggs County Web Site at http:www.rootsweb.com/~gatwiggs. and came across the following record of a property sale from John W Allen in 1845. I have long suspected him to be a brother of Gideon Allen and the son of John Allen. The date of the sale in February 1845 is around the same timeframe that Gideon Allen and family left the area to make their way to Louisiana. Both Gideon and Green Allen resigned their church membership at the Richland Baptist Church shortly before this, and left Twiggs in February 1845. This may be further evidence that John W. Allen, Green Allen, and Gideon Allen were brothers and they all left Twiggs County at the same time, possibly together. Grantee: Williams Sarah Grantor: Allen John W. Type: WD Date: 02/07/1845 Book: A Page: 401 Does anyone on this list have further information about this transaction or information on John W. Allen? What does WD mean in the Type field on the transcribed deed recording? -Cary Allen allensofmarietta@earthlink.net
