As per the 1830 Crawford Co., GA Census, a Peter Griffin- 1 male 80-90 and 1 female 50-60 is listed. I believe this is the great grandfather of Lewis Lawrence Griffin. If the female is 50-60 years old, and she is Elizabeth Owens, then she might be Peter's 2nd wife because I believe Peter's children were born in the 1770's. This female would be born abt. 1770 if she were 60 years old during the 1830 Crawford Co., GA Census. Peter Griffin's children are: Brittain, Jesse, William, Rebecca, and (John W. Griffin b. abt. 1775-77 married Jane Ryal/Rial b. abt. 1785 d. between 1860-70). According to the author of the genealogy book, Griffin, Peter was blind and left his estate to Brittain Griffin, his 1st son. Peter Griffin is also listed in the 1800 Pendleton Co., SC Census along with Britten and Jesse. There is a William listed, but he is not listed on the same page with them. I also found a Peter Griffin in the 1820 Land Lottery residing in Twiggs Co., GA. He drew 109 10 in Habersham Co., GA and received the grant on 4-14-1823. This can be located at the Habersham Co., GA Genweb: http://www.sos.state.ga.us/archives/oe/d-g.pdf I am trying to track the ascendants of Peter Griffin and determine where they originated from. Any help would be appreciated. Cindy
