    2. Deborah Riner
    3. 16 April 2001 Surname: Putnal Evidently a lot of folks passed through Twiggs County in route to Florida in the 1800's. Stephen Putnal, born 1821 in Sumter County, SC, died Jan. 18, 1896 in Hamilton County, FL, married Nancy Hart, born Oct. 7, 1818 in Twiggs County, GA, died Dec. 31, 1902 in Hamilton County, FL. Stephen and Nancy were married 1848 in Twiggs County, GA. Four of their 6 children were born in Twiggs County. My great grandfather, Hayden Putnal was born Sept. 20, 1849 in Twiggs County, GA and died 1913 in Lafayette County, FL. Are there any records in Twiggs County that go as far back as 1849? I would like to document his birth as well as his parents marriage if possible. Any help is great appreciated! Thanks, Deborah Riner islandatoll@yahoo.com

    2. Jim & Gaila
    3. Hello I would like to tell the Houston County & Georgia lists about a webpage with a list of signers to the above Resolution, which was a precursor to the Rev War in Georgia. It is shown on the Houston County Webpage - halfway down under Resolution, follow the hyperlinks. The Houston County Georgia page is http://www.rootsweb.com/~gahousto/ On the Index page of the Houston County homepage, 1/2 down and on the right hand side, the hyperlink Resolution of Protest, will take you in to the correct site. Or just click on the link below which is the First page the links are on, is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~gahousto/reso.htm Please pass this information on, if you deem it of interest to other lists. Many of the men on this list fought in the Revolutionary War for Georgia. I know that descendants of William Wilder lived in Jones, Houston, Bibb, Crawford and Peach Counties. Emily Cooper has shared this information with the Houston County Web page, although the county was not formed when this Resolution was written, we would like a public forum to find out more about the Resolution and the events leading up to and after the Resolution was published. This document has been referred to as Georgia's Declaration of Independence. Thanks Gaila

Who her parents were, where they lived in Georgia(Which county?), & who her brothers & sisters were. We know that she married Theophilus BATEMAN in Bibb Co, GA on the 15th of October 1829. A sister or cousin of hers married a cousin of our Theophilus, named Micajah BATEMAN [(JR.?) believed to the son of Micajah BATEMAN and his wife Levina (No surname known at this time.)]. The younger Micajah married Martha McDONALD on the 16th of Dec. 1829 in Bibb Co, GA. The McDONALD family may have a TWIGGS Co, GA connection, as we have not had any results from Bibb Co, Ga yet. Any help you may be able to give us with these families will be very much appreciated by many family members. Let us thank you in advance for your time and help with this research. E-mail: belka@icsi.net or write Jack Scarborough at 3108 Arroyo Drive Victoria, TX 77901-4061 THANK YOU!

    3. Twiggs County Coordinator will now be Tonya Crosby <thcrosby@bellsouth.net> She will be a great asset to the West Central Region as she was born in Bibb (her parents born in Houston) and she now lives in Twiggs. Many of you probably already know her through the Twiggs List and your research there. Pat will continue as the List manager and the two of them will work closely together. Here's a quote to illustrate her enthusiasm: "My passion is my genealogy....Twiggs County is my heart. Since it is a burned county and not much information is available I have taken a special interest. " Tonya is replacing Nancy Crawford who has done so much for Twiggs County already in the way of transcribing Censuses. I am grateful for the work Nancy has done, and know she will continue to be active on the Twiggs List and her own research there. Virginia

    2. Anyone researching the JONES family? I have a Martha Evans who remarried a JONES between 1862 and 1870. She was living in Twiggs county in 1870 with three children - Rufus, Sarah Ann and Josiah. No husband listed. Possibly widowed again. I don't know when she died. Does anyone have access the 1900 census? Could they look her up. If I can find a date of death and find an Obit, I may know where she is buried. thanks pat

    3. Hi Warren, Thanks for sharing your info. Haven't had time to go over it yet, but will share with you if I have anything additional. This is what I have on Richmond Walden Census: 1850 shows Richard, 40; Adah, 30; Sarah, 11; Hardy, 6; Martha, 4; Mary 2. 1860 shows Richard Waulden 50; Ada Waulden, 40; Sarahann E. Waulden, 20; Mary J. Waulden, 12; Henry Green Waulden, 4 mo. 1870 shows Walden, Richard, 60 Sarah, 30 Cobb, Mary, 9 (my grandmother) Francis, 8 (Evidently, the census taker left off Ada and put Sarah as the wife, or I failed to transcribe it correctly. Ada's marker reads Oct. 11, 1819, Oct. 18, 1889. I do not have a photo of the census record) I have found no evidence that there were two Saras (Sallies) Sarah Ann Elizabeth Walden married my gr grandfather, Walton Francis Marion Cobb Dec. 27, 1860 in Wilcox Co.and she died April 12, 1920. They had only one child when he left for the Civil War and she was pregnant with the 2nd when he left. He died the same year, so they only had the 2 daughters. Walton Francis Marion Cobb was the son of McCuin Cobb and Harriette Winnie Lee. They were married in Pulaski County, but reared their family in Barbour Co., AL. Walton Francis M. Cobb enlisted Feb. 24, 1862 as Private with Wilcox Co. Rifles, Co. H, l0th Rgt., GA Vol., Inf.. He was admitted to Chimborazo Hospital, Richmond, VA on June 24, 1862 and died July 23, 1862, died with "Cont. Fever." (I suppose he must have had malaria or an infection of some kind.) Burial in Oakwood Cem., Div. C., Row Q, Grave 77, 3101 E. Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA. W. Francis M. Cobb and Sarah Ann Eliz. Walden had 2 daughters: Mary Emma Cobb (my grandmother) b. Oct. 22, 1861, d. Feb. 24, 1936; Frances Harriet Cobb, b. Nov. 9, 1862, known as "Aunt Frankie" (don't have the date of her death. Aunt Frankie m. Benjamin McLankton "Lank" Dennard Nov. 7, 1878. There are 2 unmarked adult graves in the Cedar Creek Cem. which are located next to 4 marked graves that are marked as Harriett, daughter of B. M. and F. H. Cobb, Nov. 14, 1882, Joseph F. Dennard, Feb. 18 - Feb. 28, 1886; James A. Dennard, June 10, 1887 - June 14, 1887; Thomas R. Dennard, April 30, 1896 - Dec. 11, 1912. A lifelong resident of Wilcox Co. identified these 2 unmarked graves as those of Aunt Frankie and her husband Lank Dennard. In addition, Aunt Frankie had 9 other children. I believe Lank died between 1920 and 1930 and Aunt Frankie died after 1930. The 1920 census shows Sal. Cobb, 80, living with them in 1880. I remember Aunt Frankie, but never remember her having! a husband. Since I remember her and I was only 5 in 1930, I feel sure that she died later after 1930. I was 10 when grandma, Mary Emma Cobb Bruce, died. 1880 Census shows: Walden, Richard, 70; Ada, 60; Sallie, 40; Henry Evans, 58, carpenter. Take care! 3. Posted on: Twiggs Co. Ga Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/Twiggs/10123 Surname: Cloud ------------------------- I am seeking infomation about WILLIAM, HENRY, JAMES, and JNO. CLOUD in early Twiggs Co. Some 30 cousins and I have traced our CLOUD line back to early Twiggs (or rather areas that later became Twiggs), where JEREMIAH CLOUD was born about 1782. He left Ga about 1817 for Ala. The four CLOUDS mentioned are the only CLOUDS I find in early Twiggs and I would be very grateful if anyone has ANY info about any of them. WILLIAM and HENRY were renting farm land from the state on the Ocmulgee River in the area that is now Bibb Co. This area (Dist. 7) was originally Baldwin Co. until 1809, then Twiggs, and later Bibb. WILLIAM was there in 1809, Henry in 1810. WILLIAM was on a jury in 1811 in Twiggs and later on the 1818 tax roll. JAMES was commissioned to the rank of ensign in the 323 Dist Company of the Ga Militia, mentioned in a 1819 deed as a landowner and was on the 1818 tax roll. JONATHAN (or JOHN?) was mentioned in the 1818 tax roll. Some of us have been trying more than 30 years to connect our line with the rest of the CLOUD family. Please help with any info you might have. Thanks, Gary Cloud
