I have found several rosters of the Twiggs County, Georgia CSA Co.E 26th Regiment "Faulk Invincibles", but no Faulks are listed. Could anyone tell me the origin of the name "Faulk Invincibles"? Pat I have a David Evans in the 1840 census age 50 to 60, 1 male under 5, 1 male 10 to 15, 1 male 20 to 30, 1 female 15 to 20 years old, they are in tha same household.. 1850 census David age 60, Marion 14, William 12, Robert 10. 1860 census David 70, Rebecca 20, mary 2. 1870 census Rebecca 32, Mary 13, Jane 4. 1880 census Rebecca 60 also in 1880 Rebecca 40, daughter Jane 15, & daughter Nettie, the 1880 census listed her as living in the McDonald Dist.which is in the 27th Land Dist. Sandy, the courthouse burned in 1901, and all records before that were burned, some ppl brought their deeds to the courthouse and re-recorded theirs, but there were very few that did. I will look back thru some of my old census records and see if their names are listed. I think that it was in 1809 that Twiggs County was created from Wilkinson. Cecil, I understand what you are saying. Trouble is I have some folks who have told me that he lived in Twiggs County -- some even tried to convince me that the land he won was in the section of Wilkinson County that became Laurens County. I have proved that this is not true. He finally settled in Laurens County below Dublin on the Oconee River. I just don't think he ever lived in Twiggs County. He shows up in Laurens County about 1810 or so. I am told that if I contact the Twiggs County Tax Office they would be able to tell me who has owned that land over the years. Cecil, Thanks so much for the map. You have been very helpful. I think you have answered my question. I don't think my ancestor lived on this land. He probably won this land and resold it, moving on to Laurens County. His brother had won some land in Laurens County and John ended up living very near this land. The land lots have never been changed, they are still the ones that were measured back in the early 1800's, land district 28 - land lot 221, is owned by Bradley Timber Inc, Savannah Ga. there are no roads on it or near by, it has always been a timber track, it is in the Ocmulgee River Flood Plain, and subject to be under water at times. You may want to confirm this with someone else on the list. My map is showing that Land District 28 borders a portion of bibb and houston counties going east from the Ocmulgee River to a portion of Liberty Church Road, Georgia Kaolin Rd, going south to apporximately where New Mt. Zion Church is located. GMD 323. In other words if you don't have a map of any kind to look at, Land District 28 was in the NW section of Twiggs County. Now my map shows lot 221 as being the 2nd lot over from the Ocmulgee River. The section of Ocmulgee River where the border of Bibb and Houston is.
