Can anyone help with this connection?
WOW!!! The response is over whelming and it is great! To answer the most asked question; I am the old man with the Labrador (her name is Cheyenne, my granddaughter) and my son who has never married (Cheyenne belongs to him). I am trying to respond to the e-mails and posting to the guestbook. I will take some time. I am getting information by the ton. It will take awhile to glean it. I will e-mail responders when I update it. Thanks, to all who responded and the accolades for the web site. I must say that the software I use is Legacy (It was Free for the basic) for my database and it created the web site for me in 10 minutes. I did do some minor changes. It is the best genealogical software package I have ever used and I have used many. It took over 4 hours to upload it on a high-speed connection. (About 100 Meg.) This was very easy to do. Again, thanks to all. David L. Sorry to bother you nice people again but I was informed that I left the subject line blank and the receivers might just delete it. So I am re-sending it. Below is the original message. Hello my fellow researchers, I have added a new web site containing my family history. While it contains the names of living people no information or pictures are shown. I have only been doing this for a few years. I hope that you will enjoy looking at the information. I am sending this to all the sites I subscribe to, hoping for feed back and new and undated information. If you have pictures of some of these people I would love to have a copy to post. There are over 6800 pages of data. Dennis Miller just shared this wonderful newspaper clipping -- If you can identify anyone on this listing, please let me know. The Rutland District of Bibb would be south of Macon so I thought perhaps some men came from adjoining counties. Who is Lewis Whittle? I'm trying to learn more about this Battalion --- this seems to be a very early company roster. Source: The Macon Daily Telegraph, page 1, published April 2, 1862. It is an early muster roll of the "Whittle Guards" Company D, 10th Battalion Georgia Volunteer Infantry. This company was raised in the Rutland District of Bibb County and was named in honor of Lewis N. Whittle. It was officially organized March 4, 1862. Muster Roll of Whittle Guards OFFICERS Dr. W.L. To Betty Bivins re: Twiggs Co. Hatcher and McCallum families. Hi Betty, I recently had occasion to do some research on the Linton Hatcher family (I descend from Linton's grandfather Major John Hatcher). I spoke with several descendants of Linton's son, John Will Hatcher, who live in the Macon area. I also discovered that a cousin (through the Chappel line) who lives in Macon descends from the McCallum line. This cousin has done extensive research on the McCallum line and has visited the site of their Scottish homeland several times. Your probably know the cousin of whom I speak, but if you would like to correspond with me concerning both the Hatchers and the McCallums I would love to hear from you. Thanks, Joyce R. Hatcher Family of Wilkinson and Twiggs. This is in response to a query whose email bounced back to me when I responded. Bob, please get in touch with me. betty in ga My aunt Addie was the daughter of Nannie Elizabeth Jackson McCallum and Linton Hatcher. Nannie McCallum, wife of James Ware McCallum, who died in 1875, married Linton Hatcher her overseer. She lived in Twiggs but it is very close to the Wilkinson co line and her family was from Wilkinson-at Toombsboro. I come from the McCallum husband but was very close to my Aunt Addie. Addie had one son who died, Linton Wood, so there are no descendants there.Linton Hatcher is buried in the Jeffersonville Baptist church city cemetery. His wife is buried in the McCallum country cemetery. I have contacted the descendants of Linton Hatcher's other children, but they know nothing of their ancestors and do not even have the phone numbers and addresses of their own first cousins. How sad. Somewhere in my "stuff' I have a picture of Linton Hatcher and some of his family in front of a grave at which someone was honoring the soldier. It would take some time of looking, and I don't have time to look right now. This picture might be of interest to you and your family. Please keep me in your files and contact me again in a few months if you are interested in the picture. My Aunt Addie Hatcher Wood and her brother John Will Hatcher were the only two children from the marriage of Nannie and Linton Hatcher. The only bad thing about changing email addresses is that I hope I don't loose contact with people that I might help or the reverse. Good to hear from you. betty in ga Cleaning out some of my (old)e-mail ran across this from you . Can you tell me who your Aunt Addie was and jow she was connected to John H. Hatcher---- There were two John H. Hatcher's in Wilkinson, one was the son of John Henry Hatcher, son of William Sr. and the other was John H. Hatcher son of James M. Hatcher , son of Major John Hatcher. The only Addie that I am aware of was the second wifr of William Greene Hatcher son of John Edward Hatcher but that can't be then one because he was born in 1862, You have probably found what you needed by now any way.
