Ga Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/Twiggs?read=38 Surname: McCallum, Ware, Storey, Jackson ------------------------- During the 1940's or 1950's my aunt, Nannie McCallum Whitehurst gave information to a man who was working on a Twiggs County history. The man died without completing his history of the county or returning the information to my aunt. If you are a descendent of this man, and have his "things" would you please look through them and locate this information. Many times information of this type gets "put back' with other effects of a person and just sits there and no one knows that they even exist. There is probably much good information in these things that others would be glad to get returned to them. I would be glad to help you distribute them or locate families who would be interested in getting their information back. Thank you for your help. Betty McCallum Bivins Georgia

Does anyone on the list have a "Twiggs County History" Book? Thanks, Kay
Posted on: Twiggs Co. Ga Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/Twiggs?read=37 Surname: ------------------------- Greetings: I am compiling information for a book entitled: "Bibliography of Civil War Manuscripts in the state of Georgia." This book will list and briefly describe all Civil War era manuscript collections held by organizations in this state. Due to the large number of such organizations, I cannot visit them all. I need a couple of volunteers to help me with Twiggs County. The task involves visiting or calling Twigss library and historical society to check and see if they have any unpublished Civil War era letters or diaries. After that a brief description of the item is all I need. In most cases this entire process can be completed in an hour or two. All volunteers will be credited for their work in the foreword of the book. This work will be of great importance to historians and genealogist all across the nation. If you would like to help me, please contact me. David Slay d1861@aol.com

Charles Walters has indicated an interest in working with all of us on the Twiggs County GAGenWeb page. We're looking forward to hearing more from him, and I've included a little that he shared with me earlier. "My current project I am working on is to complete my Southern Walters and Waters Family Genealogy Site (adding Confederate Georgian Records, ( See Mike Purdy, Former Georigia State Genealogist for the SCV he is now working on GAGENWEB)). I work primarily for folks interested in the Walters-- specifically in the State of Georgia, Walters Warters Wartors and Watters in the Southern States of the United States of America. I am also reconstructing the unit my Great Grand Father rode with Cobb's Georgian Legion." You'll want to visit his website... http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cbw1usa/index.html Virginia
