    2. Crilley
    3. I just loaded on-line the Twiggs 1850 census (partial ) http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ga/twiggs.htm A Huge thank you to Nancy Crawford who has just about completed the 1850 Twiggs County census. Rather than wait until the completion, we decided to post this on-line. Nancy would like to ask that someone volunteer to proofread this census for her. What this means is that you would print it off....compare with the microfilm at your library, and then get back with her with the corrections that might need to be made. You can imagine how much hard work Nancy has put into this...... Nancy Gay Crawford <MeMeC@planters.net> Also, just a hint. If part of the line seems to go into the one below it, you need to extend the width of your browser screen. At first the "X"....at the end did this on mine, but once I widened the screen I didn't have a problem. Hope that this helps....and remember this is NOT completed..... Virginia

    1. [GATWIGGS] Lewis and Lamb families in Twiggs Ga from 1818 to 1830 (at least)
    2. Sheila Casper
    3. I am researching my ancestor Jacob Lewis who was in Twiggs GA from at least 1818 to at least 1830. By 1840 he had moved to Pulaski GA. Another researcher told me his wife was related to an Arthur Lamb. I find in the 1818 and 1826 Twiggs Tax Digests that Jacob Lewis is near Reuben Lamb and Arthur Lamb. In 1826 there is also a Luke Lamb and a Grady Lamb listed. I found a newspaper clipping from 1848 which says: At the residence of Reuben Lamb Esq., in Twiggs County on Monday evening, the 12th instant, by Willis Allen, Esq., Mr. John A. M. Smith of Wilkinson County to Miss Nancy Lewis, daughter of Jacob Lewis, of Pulaski County, Source, Georgia Newspaper Clippings, Pulaski County Abstracts, 1810-1891, p208 I know there must be a connection but have not found out how. If you have any info about Jacob Lewis or Arthur Lamb please contact me. Thanks, Sheila casperfamily@mosquitonet.com

Ga Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/Twiggs?read=40 Surname: Bowden, Latson, Campbell, Defore, Hataway, Ard ------------------------- My ancestors lived in an area of Twiggs County, Ga that was near (within a mile or two) the Stone Creek Baptist Church. Their surnames were Bowden, Latson, Campbell, Defore, Ard, and Hataway. Many of these people were members of Stone Creek Baptist dating back to early 1800s. If anyone has any information regarding these people or the area that they lived in, I would be very interested. The area that they lived in was once part of Camp Wheeler and has since been mined extensively to remove kaolin deposits.
