Guess I wasnt very clear as to what Vaughn I was researching. So I will try again. My grandfather's name was Franklin Hiram VAUGHN. I think his father was a Henry Vaughn. He may have had a brother named Wm. Henry. I believe he may have been on the 1880 census for Twiggs Co. GA. He was b. Jan 29, 1874 according to his WWI draft registration card. Moved on to Alabama ..... mainly up in the northeastern counties (Chambers, Talapoosa, Randolph, St. Clair, etc.) Have hit a brick wall with his parents..... or anything past him. Any assistance would be appreciated. Barbara Gage e-mail: Bgage4911@aol.com
Still looking for info on OBEDIAH EVANS b abt 1817. Last location of residence that I have been able to locate was on the TWIGGS county census. thanks pat
Would love to share information with anyone who has seen my great-grandfather in their research of the VAUGHN name in the Twiggs Co. area. Barbara Gage e-mail: Bgage4911@aol.com

Posted on: Twiggs Co. Ga Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/Twiggs?read=71 Surname: CARTER ------------------------- Seeking information on siblings and ancestors of Wesley D. Carter. Wesley D. was born 1804 in SC (county unknown) but migrated through GA to Dale Co. AL by 1834. He settled in Walton Co. FL by 1854. Wesley's spouse, Rachel, was born in GA (county unknown.) I recently saw a posting for Joel Carter, b. April 15, 1810 in Twiggs Co. GA, (parents John Carter and Zippah Benson ?); and also Rebecca Carter b. Aug. 30, 1811 in Twiggs Co. (parents unknown). Did either of these Carters have a brother named Wesley D. Carter? I can only speculate on the circumstances of the migration from SC. I tend to go with the theory that as a youngster, Wesley accompanied his parents, and that they lived for a time in GA. He may have met and married Rachel in GA and together, they moved on to Dale Co. AL where they started their family. Their children are Lemuel, Emily A., Leonard, Emanuel A., Edaline, and Lenia --in case some names are repeated from earlier generations. Hope someone can help! Good luck and thanks to all.

Can anyone shed light on this? A number of descendants of Jeremiah Cloud and other related/unrelated Clouds will be discussing this type of question when the Cloud Family Association meets in Huntsville, AL, over the weekend of 14-16 July. Posted on: Twiggs Co. Ga Queries Board URL: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/Twiggs?read=68 Surname: Dopson, Lambert, Meadows, Brewer, Stephens ------------------------- Who was the wife of John Dobson of the 1830 census, Twiggs, Co., Ga.,?... He had a son in the 10-15 yr. age bracket. A wife and 2 daughters under 10., so I imagine John and his wife married by around 1815 or 1820 . On the 1850 Census of Tuscaloosa Co., Ala., his wife was named (looked like) Permelia. Could it have been "Amelia? In 1835, Esther Lambert, a widow of James Lambert of Wilkinson Co., made a Deed of Gift in Twiggs Co., of land in Carroll Co., This deed was recorded in Carroll Co., in 1851. Esther Lambert, gave to her son Irvin Lambert, her daughter, Mary Lambert and her adopted son (son-in-law?), John Dopson. Esther had a daughter, Amealey/Amelia, that was not mentioned on the deed. Could she have then been the wife of John Dopson ? Sure would appreciate any help and thank you very much.

I'm pleased to announce that Nancy Crawford has volunteered to be the new CC for Twiggs County. She has just completed the 1850 census for the county. Nancy will continue the site which is presently located: http://www.rootsweb.com/~gatwiggs/index.htm We're looking forward to her enthusiastic leadership, but we need all of you to help by sending in your little bits and pieces. I'm sure you have some files on your ancestors in Twiggs....and whatever you have might be helpful to someone else. If you are able to make copies of anything from the Archives or libraries, do keep in mind that others might be helped by what you gain as well. Virginia
I would like to thank Kay for sharing the info with us all. Does anyone know where or how to get the info for the rest of the ledger? sincerely pat
