One clue for you--your ancestor most likely was not born in Twiggs Co., GA in 1784--it didn't exist that early. He was probably raised there and assumed he was born there. I found the same occurence with some of my relatives. Joel Carter said in a newspaper article that he was born in Crawford Co., GA, in 1810--there was no Crawford county that early, but that was where he was raised. By searching GA records, it is quite obvious he was born in Twiggs County, GA. In 1784, the area that was to become Twiggs was very much Indian Territory. On the Talladega Co.,AL Mortality Schedule, JACOB WATTS died in 1850. He was born in SC in 1784-5. He was in Twiggs Co.,Ga in 1813 as a member of The Stone Creek Baptist Church. He married MILLIE HOLLINGSWORTH,daughter of ISAAC HOLLINGSWORTH. ISAAC HOLLINGSWORTH was also in Twiggs Co.,Ga in the early 1800's. Does anyone have any information on those people? I have a lot of info on JACOB and MILLIE WATTS after they came to Talladega (now Clay Co.) Alabama. I live about a mile from where they lived and died, and are buried. Their children had many offspring. I have information on all of them from 1850 to the present, but nothing on them from 1813 to the past. Any information will be appreciated. It will be great if you can locate the author and get permission to use the list. Otherwise, you might want to examine the question of what it is about a copied list from history that can be covered by a copyright. Does anyone on this list know how I can contact Eleanor Davis McSWAIN? She compiled the book "Abstracts Of Some Documents Of Twiggs County Georgia" in 1972. In that book she lists Ira Peck's Mercantile Store customers. The store was in Marion, Ga. Twiggs County. Mr. Peck kept a 'Day Book' of names of his customers from 1826 & 1827. I have a list of the names and was adding them to this mail list. Because of 'copyright' laws I may not be able to add them without Ms. McSWAIN's permission. I know how important it is to find your ancestor in a certain place and in a certain time. I found my George Remer YOUNG in the 'Day Book' in January 1826. Can anyone help me find Ms. McSWAIN??
