    3. My Twiggs County families are Elias PEARCE, born about 1807 in Georgia, and Lucinda GRIFFIN SOLOMON, born about 1805 in Georgia, according to the census. Lucinda had 9 children with her first husband, Henry Solomon, and one with her second husband Elias. His name was Edward Coke Pearce, born about 1849. He was a teacher in Bibb County for 15 years, and then in Houston for 3 or 4 years, until he died in 1886. I would love to find families for Elias and Lucinda. Are Griffins and Pearces mentioned in the new Twiggs County book? Paula

    3. I assume you are acquainted with "Youngblood - Armstrong and Allied Families" by Frances Youngblood and Floelle Youngblood Bonner. Links with my Cloud family are on pages 297-304. Migration from Twiggs County to AL and then TX over the years is a familiar story. I suspect that the origins of your Peter Youngblood, my Jeremiah Cloud, and someone else's Joshua Cobb are discussed in the same missing chapter of the ultimate American history book. 3. My CARTER ancestors were in Wilkinson County beginning about 1807. This area of Wilkinson became Twiggs Co. in 1809. Prior to this they were in Lincoln Co., GA, from about 1797 to 1807, and prior to that they are believed to have been in Laurens Co., SC, from about 1760-80 to 1797. Prior to that they were in Frederick Co. VA 1740-1760/80 (different brothers migrated at different times from VA to SC from 1760-1780). And from about 1680 to 1740 they were in Bucks Co., PA. The CARTERs lived amongst Quakers, but eventually became Baptist as early as late 1790's. When the split came they became Primitive Baptists. James Carter b. abt. 1780 probably England>Benjamin Carter b. abt. 1710> Benj. II b. abt. 1740>John b. 1780 SC>oldest dau. Mary b. Lincoln Co., GA, son. Joel b. either Wilkinson or Twiggs 1810; daus. Amy, Sarah, and Nancy Ann also born in Twiggs Co.; son Henry b. either Twiggs or Crawford Co. abt. 1825. I'm not sure which church they belonged to in Twiggs but they were Baptist and usually served as deacons and clerks for the churches they belonged to. John CARTER's wife was Zilpha BENSON and there were alsos BENSONS in Twiggs Co. John's sister Amy married Etheldred BOZEMAN--there were also BOZEMANs there in the early years. Benjamin I was married to Margaret HOLLINGSWORTH in VA abt. 1736. There were also HOLLINGSWORTHs in Twiggs.d Thank you, Cynthia CARTER DYER PTMACAW@aol.com wrote: > > Hello All! > I would like to WELCOME all the new subscribers. 3. Hi Pam, The HOLLINGSWORTHs are a well-documented family. They were Quakers who originally came to PA-DE-NJ area. And a HOLLINGWORTH is actually the founder of Newark (New Ark) NJ. They migrated to Frederick Co., VA, then to Laurens Co, SC, and from there to GA and AL and onward. There is a book in the Mary Willis Library in Wilkes Co., GA, that was written in abt. 1920 that give a lot of info on the HOLLINGWORTHs. I am a descentdent of Abraham HOLLINGSORTH>Margaret HOLLINGSWORTH 1710 = Benjamin CARTER>Benjamin CARTER (II) 1740 and Mary ?>John CARTER 1780 and Zilpha BENSON>Henry CARTER 1825 and Amanda SANDERS>Henry Sanders CARTER 1854>etc. My CARTERs were in Twiggs Co., from about 1809 to 1827. They then went to Crawford Co., GA, then on to Alabama--Talapoosa, Crenshaw and Pike Cos. Good luck, Cynthia Pam Shirey wrote: > > On the Talladega Co.,AL Mortality Schedule, JACOB WATTS died in 1850.
