    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: mattpeacock1 Surnames: Peacock Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.georgia.counties.turner/704/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello, I am searching for information on Charles Matthew Peacock (my great-grandfather). According to a WWI Draft Registration Card, Charles Peacock was living in Ashburn/Turner County and was a self-employed farmer. His wife's name was Ealie. The date of the Draft Registration Card is September 12, 1918. This is the final piece of information that I can find on Charles. By the 1920 Census (dated January 1920), his wife Ealie has remarried (to George W. May) and Charles Matthew Peacock no longer appears on the census records. I am lead to believe that Charles Matthew Peacock died sometime between September 1918 and January 1920. I cannot find any military records, so I don't think he died in the war. My speculation is that he may have died during the 1918 Spanish Flu Epidemic. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you. 1. [GATURNER] Myrtis Wardlow Hobby 1922008
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: GARYSULLIVAN82 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.georgia.counties.turner/696/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Myrtis Wardlow Hobby Myrtis Wardlow Hobby, 82, passed into Eternity on Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at Naples Community Hospital in Naples. She had been ill for about four weeks; her battle with illness now complete. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at East Naples United Methodist Church on Airport Road in Naples. Myrtis was born May 18, 1926 in Ashburn, GA. She married Clyde Hobby on May 23, 1948, in Sarasota, FL and spent the next 60 years living every single moment of every single day to the fullest. Her journey into Eternity cannot be characterized easily. Myrtis and Clyde built a most successful clothing business in their hometown of Ashburn, GA, devoting themselves to the business, the community and their two sons, Redding and Alan. As the family grew and matured, so did the business and the opportunity for family enrichment. On a vacation in 1960 to New York, Myrtis went to Radio City Music Hall and was selected out of the audience to be a contestant on the Price is Right. She was the champion for three days and brought her loot back to Georgia. After Redding and Alan began their lives, Myrtis and Clyde's penchant for their business brought continued success. She and her husband became avid golfers and passionate duffers. In 1981, Myrtis and Clyde sold the business and moved to Naples. They settled into their passions, each other and golf. Myrtis was president of the Wyndemere Women's Golf Association and an active member in every activity of the programs there. Later, Myrtis and Clyde moved their golf, bridge and bingo prowess to Royal Palm Country Club in Lely, near their home. During her golf career, Myrtis sank three holes-inone and filled her closet with tournament winnings for years. Myrtis loved her husband Clyde, her sons and family, and her life. Her husband, friends and family knew her by several names, Sweetheart, Lucky Myrt, and Moma, all these names embodied this great lady and enriched the lives of all. Survivors include her husband, Clyde; her son, Redding and daughter-in-law, Susan; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Alan; and his wife, Deborah; her brother; and her sister. The family asks that memorials be made in honor of Myrtis to the American Heart Association. 3. I was looking through death certificates at the Georgia's Virtual Vault:http://content.sos.state.ga.us/cdm4/gadeaths.php and came upon the death certificate of Cynthia Hogan Gibbs. She is the wife of Marion Gibbs and they were married 22 September 1898 in Wilcox County. Through census information I have her parents as William M. Hogan and Eliza. The death certificate was filled out by her half-brother, Eli Manning Hogan. He has that the mother of Cynthia is Martha Shanon. Link to death certificate: http://tinyurl.com/5uffpx . Eliza Hogan (perhaps also known as Martha?) died 16 March 1857. Census records indicate that Eliza and William M. Hogan were both born in Georgia. The death certificate of Cynthia Hogan Gibbs states her parents were both born in Alabama. Four of William M. Hogan's sons' death certificate indicate that William M. Hogan was born in Georgia. Three were filled in by brother-in-laws of the deceased and one I don't know what relationship he was to the family. I descend from William M. Hogan and his second wife, Mary Ann Parsons. They were married 02 June 1858 in Wilcox County Georgia. I'm looking for the parentage of William M. Hogan and Mary Ann Parsons. I'm also looking for information of William M. Hogan's first wife, Eliza, and more information on their children: Caroline, Sarah Ann (Elizabeth), Thomas Jefferson, Celia Ann R., Nancy Ann M., Eliza Ann William, Aytchsey Ann L., Martha Ann P., Cynthia Ann S., Cally Ann J., Mary Ann Elefair.
