    3. Bonner: I have a small booklet (50 pages) "History of the Town of Hogansville -1830-1970 by Jane Strain. You can purchase this booklet at the Troup County Archives ( 706) 884-1828 for $ 6.00 plus postage. I have copied the following concerning your family. The rest of the History of Hogansville is wonderful. You would enjoy it. "The third wave of settlers which came in the 1850's and was recorded in the 1860 census, reveals the names: Shank, Lofte, etc." "The John Shank home was on the Hammett Road, which was the old stage coach route from Newnan to LaGrange and it was a stage stop. In 1947, the house was dismantled and moved to Taliaferro Drive and is the home of Mrs. Ed (Jane) Strain. The late Mrs. Jimmelle Wage was a Shank and was the granddaughter of John Shank. This home was known as the Dr Walker place for a son-in-law of John Shank who lived there. There was a stage coach inn at Corinth on the same stagecoach route, which stood until a few year ago. (1986)." "The old Wortham Hotel was built in 1869 on the corner of College and Commerce where teh Masonic Building is. It was a two-story building which porches completely encircling it. It is known that it was first owned by the Copelands a family who had other interests here, but it had many owners and operators through the years. There was also a wooden hotel on the corner of Oak and Main. but this first hotel burned later and the present brick hotel built. (the Grand Hotel). I know this will be exciting to you. I just wish someone would see my e-mails and help me with my Sims and Huckeba line. Good luck Brenda Sims Hogansville, GA ps. Yes Colleen Sims is my mother-in-law.
