BOYD- john w., relative Robert, Rosanna(stewart, both of newberry co., sc) of meriwether co. ga (on 1840 census); daughter Rosanna Sloan 1850 mere. co. census; her sons A.B. and SLOAN-Lewis R Sloan, in Troup co. Ga. by 1861 and in 4th ga inf co b, CSA died 19sep1864 3rd battle of winchester, va. DAVIS- daughter of John Boyd, Jane Amanda and family including husband Silas N. Davis from sc on 1840-1870 troup co. census. 1840 census shows Silas, Jane, and 1 male child. census total=5. my great great grandmother Sarah T. was adopted into this family and married Lewis Sloan. Sarah T. Davis was full Cherokee and escaped the 1838 removal by going from Atlanta area to Hogansville along Chattahootchie River. died in Antioch 1881. daugter Martha married George Washington Woodall 1877. WOODALL- George, parents William L and Nancy(Wilson), uncle and aunt Samuel P. and Mahilda(Wilson) Woodall moved from nc to Troup co. Ga by 1860. Sam defended West point as guard in 1865; William L. fought for CSA. William also left wife, lived wit and had children by a black woman 1870's. disowned by family.
