Hello everyone, I've been reading the posts about the changes in how to subscribe to the Troup Co. list. I don't believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that membership is meant to be "by invitation only." Anyone can subscribe in the normal fashion, they just need to submit their information to Hilda. The purpose is not to "screen" or exclude anyone, it's only so that no one remains anonymous. That seems to make all the members less vulnerable to personal attacks & generally nasty posting from anyone. I belong to quite a few lists. Because of the volume of posts that I receive, all of them, including Troup Co. are in digest mode except for one. That means that I do a great deal of "lurking" just to see if I can find a connection. It is a good idea to submit names of people for whom you're searching when you first join. You never know, there might be an immediate response from someone. If, after that first post to introduce yourself, you're bounced from the list due to inactivity, aka lurking, just resubscribe. At least, that's my understanding of how it all works. Hilda, you'll have to correct me if I'm mistaken in anything. I really enjoy all the member's posts here.
