Welcome all you new members, I'm JudyB from Washington State. When you live this far away, you learn to really depend on you southerners. I was born in Randolph Co., Al, but have been away for 35 years. I have been looking for info on my ggrandfather Oliver Jasper Norred for a long time. I know obvious things about him, b., d. were he's buried, but I can't seem to find much history on him. I know that he lived in Troup Co., LaGrange, for several years before he died in 1957. He lived with a son, named (Jesse, I think) Hershel Norred. I remember going to Uncle Hershel's place of business when I was a very small child. I believe it might have been a tavern or something like that. Is Troup Co a 'wet county? I might be mistaken about his business, I just can't remember. I'd love to make contact with some of Uncle Hershel's family, as I am pretty sure that they still live in LaGrange. I wrote for my GG's obit. and sent $2.00 to cover expense, someone told me that would be enough. A few days later I got the copy of the obit and my $2.00 back, with a very nice note from the lady at the newspaper office, she was very happy to help me. They are really nice folks down there. The obit didn't have much info for me, no siblings, wives, or parents. I'm hoping that his death certificate might have more info for me. I recently got a death certificate for someone that passed away about ten years ago at Health dept. in LaGrange, but I've been told that I have to get my gg's from the state of GA. Is that because it's been so long since his death? Does anyone know. I have several to order, and would like to know how the certificates are filed. Thanks everyone for you help. JudyB
