Wilson MCGEE who was a planter in Troup Co GA and there is the family burial grounds on what was the old plantation nine miles west of LaGrange on Big Springs Rd. I have been there and had it cleaned up. > > WL REESE was a Confederate doctor captured at Gettysburg and exchanged then sent home to LaGrange which was a big hospital city because it was considered the safest place in the Confederacy, generals sent their wives there. After the war he practiced a little north in Carrollton, Carroll Co GA and then went to Dresden, Navarro Co TX in 1874. He died there in 1875 and Mary Jane in 1866. > > Their son George Wilson REESE, DDS was born in 1862 in Troup Co, married Katherine WILEY in Grosbeck TX and later moved to Birmingham AL. I never understood the connection to B'ham. And maybe you will be able to add to that. He died there, but is buried in Dresden. Geo. is the only one to have gone to B'ham. > > His father William Lewis was born in AL in 1823 and his father was Abraham Farmer REES [William added the E]. I have the line back to Hugh I b1610 from Wales [probably Cardigan]. Abraham was b1799 GA, but lived in Greensboro AL and married Sarah MATHIS in Perry Co, AL [where she was from]. This is all the AL connections I have. Otherwise it goes back the regular route GA<SC<NC<VA. > > The STINSONs married into the MCGEE family. Caroline Elizabeth STINSON b12/4/1810, d10/18/1883 married in 1830 to John Wesley MCGEE b8/6/1803, d3/29/1867. He was a brother to Mary Jane and son of Geo Wilson MCGEE and Mary Ann RUSSELL. They are all buried in the MCGEE family Cemetery in Troup [including Mary Ann's father Ignatius RUSSELL [he was on a sureying team to west AL @1803]. Caroline and JW had nine children. One of their sons William Mosely MCGEE b12/9/1831 d7/21/1862[Richmond VA. war] married 10/23/1856 to M.C. STINSON. I have a copy of their marriage license. > > Tell me if this is what you are looking for before I go into more decendents. Troup is on the stateline and there are Reeses, Russells and Mcgees all up and down both sides. > > I grew up in St. Francis Wood and went to Lowell. What part of the city do you live in?
