I am researching Hollidays in that county and across the state line in Chambers Co., AL. My g-grandmother, Jane Holliday, b.. 1822 GA, married Thomas Hall Simonton, my g-grandfather, in Troup Co., GA in 1839 and they raised their family in Chambers Co., AL. I believe Jane Holliday may have been of the family of F.B. Holliday, Daniel Neal Holliday, Samuel Holliday - maybe a sister or cousin, and I am told by a cousin that Lutisha Holliday was probably her mother. Does anyone familiar with researching in Troup Co. know what, if any, kind of license would be required for a physician to practice in Troup Co. in the 1840's. My ancestor, Dr. Moses Austin Martin married Eliza Alford in Troup Co. 2 Jul 1844. After their marriage the Martins lived one year in TX and then in Pike Co. AL until the late 1880's. Dr. Martin was born in NY State c. 1816, possibly Albany Co., but I have been unable to find his parents or anything else about his background. Would like to determine where he received his medical education etc. Thanks for any advice or help. Addice in Fairfax, VA
