    3. Hi, I am new to the list and I am trying to find information on my William DAY line. What I have found out so far is that William married in Pittsylvania, VA 17 Sept 1801 to Mary Poley FORMBY (BORN 18 JULY 1786) and they had one son about 1804 in VA. I found William on the tax roll in 1800 and 1802 in Halifax, VA. I then found Mary married to William H. MOORE 23 Sept 1805 in Oglethorpe, GA. Mary's parents Nathan and Tabitha ECHOLS FORMBY went to Oglethorpe around that time. I know that the FORMBY family moved to Walton, GA and that is where Nathan died. Tabitha moved to Troup, GA and she died there. William H. MOORE in 1820 was found in Monroe, GA and that is where Moses married Celia REYNOLDS 30 June 1826. Both families moved to Morgan around 1830 and later moved to LaGrange, Troup County, GA. Both Moses and his mother were found in Troup during the 1840 and 1850 census. This is where William H. and Mary are buried. Moses later moved to Upshur County, Texas and that is where he and Celia died. I what I really would like to know is what happen to William DAY. If anyone can help me or give me an idea of where to look, it would be very much appreciated. 1. [GATROUP-L] Jackson County, Georgia Cemeteries
    2. Belinda & Dave Savadge
    3. Hi, I have had a lot of questions and responses about the Jackson County, GA. Cemeteries. One of the main questions is how will this one be different. Here are my plans: 1. Mine will be an updated one (a lot of people have died in the last 20 years). 2. Mine will have pictures of the churches (if no church is there it will a picture of what the cemetery looks like. 3. I will include the church histories, along with founding members. 4. There are some cemeteries that are not in the old book, I am still looking for others. 5. I maybe include pictures of old or unusual stones. 6. I will include all unmarked graves. Any that are unmarked that I can find out who is buried there will be included. 7. Mine will include directions to the cemeteries and maybe maps. The maps in the old book are very hard to follow (I have heard this from others). I do not own this book and have only seen it once several years ago. I am still not sure how I am going to publish it yet. I may have to do it in sections if it gets too big. I am still working on this project, so it will take a while since I am doing this all myself. Thank you to everyone that has sent positive responses and encouragement. I really do appreciate it. Hope this answers your questions. Best Regards, Belinda savadge@alltel.net

    2. Belinda & Dave Savadge
    3. Hi, I am in the process of transcribing the Jackson County, Georgia Cemeteries for a book I plan on publishing. At the moment I am working on Prospect United Methodist Church, it is located at the Jackson County and Clarke County lines. I am also getting the church histories. Prospect dates back to the 1780's. It is a very neat cemetery. It has some very old and somewhat unique markers, a crypt or tomb, iron fences. I have not finished this cemetery yet. I am also told there in a slave cemetery located in the woods behind the church. I am trying to identify the unmarked graves in this cemetery. There are quite a few. Some are marked with plies of rocks, some with a field stone, a wooded cross, or whatever someone could find. If anyone has any ancestors buried in this cemetery in an unmarked grave could you please contact me. I would really like to identify as many unmarked graves in Jackson County as I can. I have found several people who have family buried here in unmarked and they were able to show where in the cemetery their families are buried and what their name were. I would really appreciate information on these unmarked graves. Thank you. Best Regards, Belinda savadge@alltel.net

    1. [GATROUP-L] George, William and Yearby Osborn
    2. Dorothy
    3. I'm looking for any information on the Osborn/Osburn family that lived there from 1830-50. George is my ggggg-grandfather. I'm trying to figure out how William and Yearby are connected. Yearby and two of his sons, Thomas and Russel are found in Pickens county Alabama in 1840's and purchased land there. Then william died in Troup Co. in 1846 and named Yearby as his executor and mentioned him as being his father. Thomas and Russel remained in Pickens Co. Al, and were dentist. I'm trying to find out what happened to yearby too. He seems to have dissappeared after the 1850 census. Does anyone have a connection to this family?

    3. Thanks, Joan. The 12/14/1804 was the marriage date for Joseph Greene and Tabitha Whatley. Census records indicated they were both born about 1785. We think Tabitha may have been a widow, because I have been in contact with several Whatley researchers and cannot find a Tabitha in any of the Whatley children born in that time frame. Thanks so much for your response. 3. Mina, Thanks for your message and the address for your daughter. I don't seem to have a Nancy Jones in my file but will be happy to keep a lookout for her in my research. My Greens were in Wilkes, Jasper and Monroe Counties of GA. I did see on another site (http://www.familysearch.org/default.asp) that your Elizabeth was born 7-7-1829 in Morgan, GA and Tabitha was born 12-14-1804 in Greene Co., GA. Her paternal grandmother is a descendant of Frances L. Wofford and Abel Robinson Burks, son of James Lyon Burks who was thought to be the grandson of John Peartree Burks. She is not online but might be able to give you some information. Gayle is not doing a lot of genealogy research at this time because of the heavy demands of raising three children ages 17, 14, and 3 1/2, and keeping up with a husband. She also works part time. I do not show any of the Burks names that you mention in your query in my database. But I know that Gayle has entered new data over the years, and they might be in her information. I am also interested in the Jones information since my mother's gg grandmother was Nancy Jones who married Pleasant Pressley Wright, son of Nathaniel Wright and Elizabeth Cockerham (Nathaniel's first wife). We have no other information on Nancy Jones. I believe the Wrights originally came from Lunenberg Co., VA, moved on to Abbeville Co., SC and then to Lincoln Co., GA where Nathaniel died. Another of my mother's gg grandparents was Joseph H. Greene who married Tabitha Whatley in Green Co., GA Dec. 4, 1804 in Greene Co., GA. Later moved to Troup Co., GA after he drew land in the 1825 Georgia Land Lottery. Both were born abt 1785 according to the census records. No exact death dates, but it appears that Tabitha Whatley Green died sometime after 1850. Their daughter, Elizabeth Greene, married George H. Crawley in Troup Co., GA and later moved to Randolph Co., AL. We have other information on parents or siblings of Joseph H. Greene or Tabitha Whatley. I thought of this when I saw your Green surname. 3. My daughter has researched the Burks line for several years. My daughter's address is: M. Gayle Bickerstaff Basaldu, 9800 County Road 915A, Joshua, TX 76058. On Sun, 18 Apr 1999 10:01:52 -0400 "jtgen" <jtgen@mindspring.com> writes: >Hello everyone. 2. Hi Debra and all, I found some Moores (as well as several other surnames) buried in an old private cemetery in Rapides Parish, Louisiana. I have seen links between Troup County and Rapides before (also between Troup and Ouachita Parish, LA where I transcribed 2 other small private cemeteries). If you or anyone on this list has a link to either county in LA I will take a look at these 3 cemeteries surnames for you...Hendersons, Brewers, Moores, Cowans, Rutledges, Barfoots, and more... 1. [GATROUP-L] MCPHERSON Obit
    2. Belinda & Dave Savadge
    3. Hi Listers, This obit. is the one for my own Uncle that I just now found in Monday's newspaper. The sad part is, is that none of my sisters nor I was informed of this death. One of my sisters only lived about 7 miles from him and I lived about 11 miles from him. His funeral was held Monday and I did not see his obit. until early this morning. It is very sad that we did not get to attend his funeral. Our own father (this is his brother that died) did not even inform us of his death. My father only lives about 10 miles from me. My father did attend the funeral. So here is his obit. that was in the paper and at the end of the obit. I will add what information I have. Quill MCPHERSON, 68 Of Hoschton died Saturday, Graveside service, 4 p.m. today, Warsaw Cemetery, Duluth; Flanigan Funeral Home. Here is the added information for anyone researching this family: Quill McPHERSON born June 21, 1931 (not sure where in GA.) Married Jo-Ann CHAPMAN ? Children: Wayne Charlotte Janice Sherry - twin to Terry Terry - (male) twin to Sherry Dean Tracy Jo-Ann died about 10 years ago. All the children live in GA. I don't know who any of the girls married. Uncle Quill was a twin also. He had a twin brother Will that died as an infant and is buried in Warsaw Cemetery. Quill's parents were William Aze McPHERSON, Sr. and Daisy May CLARK. Daisy died sometime around 1935 and is buried in Warsaw Cemetery. William Aze died sometime around 1960 in Sand Mountain, AL. He is buried there. After Daisy died, William Aze loaded up his children (the 4 boys) and deposited them at different family members homes. He then left town. He later went to Sand Mountain, AL. William Aze McPHERSON was born 1888 in GA. He was first married to Minnie Ellen TOLBERT. William and Minnie had 4 girls: Azzie married a HARRISON Mertle married James CAMPBELL Clara May married a BATES Edna born 1915 married Marvin ROZAR William Aze and Minnie divorced (actually I think he deserted the family). William and Daisy May CLARK had 5 sons: James William born 1927 in Forsyth County, GA Clyde Edward born January 5, 1929 in Forsyth County, GA died 1996 in Tucson, AZ Quill born June 21, 1931 died April 10, 1999 Will born June 21, 1931 died 1931 William Aze "Bill" born 1934 James William married 1st. 3. Bob and Jane CAMPBELL Genealogy Surfer and Scout Leader When Bob and Jane Campbell's Dekalb County residence burst into flames Thursday morning, the blaze took both residents' lives and destroyed the house, except for Mr. Campbell's office. That room, which housed the family Bible and the genealogical history that had been Mr. Campbell's passion, was untouched, said the couple's daughter, Eloise Ragsdale of Decatur. "He had everything in there, all our reports cards from grade school, everything, " she said. This is just one of those strange things, as strange as it taking both of them together." The joint funeral for Robert C. Campbell Sr., 74, and Jane H. Campbell, 72, both of Atlanta, is 2 p.m. today (Monday, April 12, 1999) at H.M> Patterson & Sons, Spring Hill. Despite the assistance of neighbors, Mr. Campbell, a retired embalmer and funeral director with H.M> Patterson Y Son, died on the lawn of this residence, collapsing while trying to get help for his wife. Mrs. Campbell, a mental health nurse retired from DeKalb Medical Center, suffered from a degenerative bone disorder that made movement difficult, said her daughter. She died in her bedroom. Chattanooga natives, the Campbells met while attending neighboring single-sex high schools. they married in 1846 and moved to Atlanta when Mrs. Campbell was accepted at the Emory University School of Nursing. Mrs. Campbell served as camp director of a Girl Scout camp at what is now Fernbank Science Center and at Camp Timber Ridge in Mableton, said her daughter. In 1965, she was awarded the Thanks Medal for her service to the Girl Scouts. Mr. Campbell retired in 1988 and spent his time caring for his wife and researching genealogy on the Web. He was working on a family history and had traced his ancestors back to Paris in 1753. "He kept up with a small circle of friends, but looking after Mom sort of limited his social outings," said Mrs. Ragsdale. "So he bought himself a computer and practically lived on it. It'll take us the next five years to go through his history." The couple had both served as presidents of the Oak Grove and Heritage schools PTAs and were communicants at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church. Survivors other than their daughter include another daughter, Becky Beagle of Avondale Estates; a son, Bert Campbell of Cumming; and three grandchildren. Mr. Campbell is survived by a sister, Martha Spencer of Emporia, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that contributions be made to Nicholas House at St. Bartholomew's, 1790 LaVista Road N.E., Atlanta, GA. 30329. 1. [GATROUP-L] Richardson? Watson?
    2. I'm searching for a SC relative that, according to years of family legend "killed 2 men at Old Sumter, changed his name to Watson and moved to Texas"..... Do any of you know about old newspapers, old sheriff reports or anywhere I might look for this guy? We thought/think his parents may have been Thomas Richardson and Sarah Seabrook, married in April, 1806, but have not been able to prove it. Still working that connection through another professional researcher. I'm up for any and all suggestions of where you think this guy might fit in. If indeed he was their son, it makes sense that he was possibly banished and disappeared from the face of the earth. His name was Thomas Richardson when he finally appeared in East Texas in 1853. He was born in Charleston, SC in Oct 1816. When he did finally marry in 1861 at a ripe old age for those days, he named his children James R., John B., William Thomas, Sarah Elizabeth (his wife's name), Jacob Francis, Wood R. and George W. so I'm guessing these male names were probably his father and/or brothers, maybe even uncles. This old fella is such a brick wall, I'm thinking seriously of posting a reward for anyone that can assume or plot his whereabouts. Or maybe I'll just go straight to the nut house.... do not pass go. Just go. Sincerely, any help or suggestions will be humbly accepted and appreciated. Amy McCroskie Denver, CO

    3. I am posting this to warn others about problems with ; Census Microfilm Expeditors 476 E. South Temple , Suite 4 Salt Lake City , UT 84111 website ; www.censusmicrofilm.com e-mail ; gme@nwinfo.net and ; sj@censusmicrofilm.com I was lured to order several microfilm copies from this company with "guarantees" of "speedy delivery" and "low price" . My order was placed in October of 1998 and as of this posting I have not received the order or a refund after numerous contacts with Steven Jensen at this firm . In his occasional replies he repeatedly gave false information to me as to the status of the order and cashed the check when mentioned stopping payment on it .I have copies of all documents and correspondences for those interested . Complaints have been filed with the Better Business Bureau and the United States Postal Inspectors , they have informed me that even they can't order this company to give a refund , but may seek criminal charges . I guess small claims court is next . If you are seeking genealogy resources......consider my experiences with this "Firm". Thank you , Kenneth Sartin researching ; Sartin , Sartain , Sarton , Sarten , Sardin etc. etc.
