    3. Any excellent resourse in reguards to Camp Davis is a book researched and written by Jimmy E. Arnsdorff. Southern Historical Press. Jimmy published this book in 1994. THOSE GALLANT GEORGIANS WHO FOUGHT IN THE WAR BETWEEN THE STATES. It encompasses Effingham County's participation on the Civil War. Coves a wealth of military information! Chapter 22 is titled "Camp Davis and Guyton General Hospital." Pages 558-565. Perhaps some of you have seen this publication. "When soldiers died, their bodies were usually shipped to their home for burial. However, in the event that no-one knew the idenity of a soldier (no Dog Tages then), they were buried at the Guyton Cemetery in the UNKNOWN SECTION." THERE WERE SEVERAL REGIMENTS ORGANIZED right there at Camp Davis. The 54th being one of them. Happy to do any lookups for anyone interested. Judy V. Mason
