Thompson have been discussing for some time the idea of starting a Wynn DNA project for those Wynn’s of Wilkinson County, Georgia. We would like to get DNA tests on known MALE DESCENDANT’s WITH THE SURNAME OF WYNN of these gentlemen: JAMES (b.1800), JOHN (b. 1787), ASHLEY (b. 1804),. BARTLEY, b. 1793), OBEDIAH (b. 1813) to WILLIAM WYNN, JR. (b. 1790, d. 1870), all of Wilkinson County, Georgia. We are hoping to find one volunteer from each family line to do a simple do-it-yourself at home DNA test and we are also hoping to find cousins willing to help pay for these tests. I am willing to help pay for testing a known descendant of Bartley Wynn and I know that Gervaise is willing to help pay for testing on her line. The number of markers tested determines the cost, of course the more markers tested the more you can be sure of the results. These tests can cost over $200. These tests will not prove that so-and-so was someone’s father and it will not prove that two individual’s were brother’s. What it will establish is that two individuals had a common ancestor.
