In the history book you mentioned, Lewis and Jesse Ward are listed under the heading "Census. Showing Heads of Families in Thomas County, Grooverville District 1840" on page 51. Benjamin Ward is listed under "Heads of Families in Thomas County in 1840 Duncanville District" on page 53. The book is not indexed, so there may be further mention of the Wards in some of the text which imostly excerpts from local newspapers. Reprints of the book may possibly be available through the Thomas County Museum of History, 725 N Dawson St., Thomasville, GA 31792, 229-226-7664. If not they may know where if it still available. There is a book on the Ward family by Wofford Hampton Stidham. The title of the book is "The Farm: A Story of Four Brooks County, Georgia Families." The last time I contacted Mr. Stidham, he was an attorney in Bartow, FL & his address was P. O. Box 510, Bartow 33831. The parents of the four Ward brothers was Lewis and Susan Ward. and Mr. Stidham traced Lewis & Susan's ancestors to NC. Also, there is a copy of a Ward family Bible in the Elizabeth Hopkins Collection (FHL/US 0164478). The Bible is in the Jarome Ward Rainey papers and is next to the Kingsley info (my ancestors) as Mary Jane Kingsley married John Ward, one of the 4 sons.
