    1. [GATHOMAS] Question
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Williams, Miller, Dekle, Westfaul Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/0d.2ADE/1352 Message Board Post: A cousin who is working on our Williams/Thomas County lines told me that her grandfather said his father had to work as a child in a factory "picking up spools". Does anyone have any idea where this might have been? This would have been around 1865-69 and probably not in Thomas County. Just wondered if anyone knows of factories in Georgia (Macon or Savannah) where this could have happened? The child would have been about eight years old at the time. This child was the grandson of Thomas and Sophia Dekle Williams of Thomas County, and the child of Mary Miller and William Williams. After William died CSA in 1862, Mary moved from Thomas County (not sure when) and remarried in 1869. Cousin also wonders if there were city directories for Macon after 1870. I have no idea, and thought someone here might know. Appreciate any info! Thanks so much. Sylvia
