    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Linton, Lanier, Foster, Johnson, Nicholson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/0d.2ADE/1356.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: I guess I did muddle things a bit. The Linton family migrated from MD down the coast, had a plantation (Mt PLeasant) in Abbeville, SC. From there Moses Linton & his wife, Lucy Lanier, moved to primeval forest with nothing but Indians in SW Ga. He had over 100 slaves that he eventually freed. They built the Methodist church near Grooversville , some where in time. After the Civil & Indian wars, they retired to Thomasville. Represented Thomas Co. Ga in secession convention that carried Ga into Southern Confederacy. They are a fairly well documented family. He is buried at Laurel Hill. I had no idea if that is Methodist or not, or how close Thomasville is that close to Grooversville.
