    3. If this was W. H. H. Gandy he served as a private in Co E of the 50th Georgia Infantry Regiment (Thomas County Rangers) and he was reported to have died at Richmond, VA, prior to 29 March 1864. If this information is correct, it would be unusual for him to have been buried at Coolidge, but certainly not impossible. Perhaps further research could verify details and determine how this came about...? RW A-T-K's Grannie wrote: >Gandy, H. H. b Dec. 21, 1840 d Jul 20, 1863 >Buried Mt. Zion P. B. 1. Ancestry.com to sell Family Tree data
    2. If you have submitted a family tree to Ancestry.com, you might want to know of the change about to be implemented by them. The Family Trees that have been donated to Ancestry for free distribution to other researchers are about to be sold by subscription: the OneWorldTree Preview cost will be $49.95 for 14 months. If you'd prefer that your information was not sold, there is a link below which will take you to a set of instructions on opting out by deleting your tree. After clicking on the link and arriving at the page, click on "What's a preview?" near the top of the page. Read thoroughly and then click on "View our checklist" (which appears on #3). Among other things, you will see the following sentence: "If for any reason you do not want your tree to be part of the new OneWorldTree service, you must delete it from the Ancestry World Tree database by tentatively May 21, 2004." This is the link: http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/trees/owt/

    3. In addition to the Thomasville Genealogical, History, and Fine Arts Library, I suggest that you go to the public library in Thomasville. It has a microfilm holding of newspapers that ( in the past) did not match all the holdings at the genealogy library. I also suggest that you go to the genealogy library in the county next door. It is the Odem Library in Colquitt County (Moultrie) Georgia. They have a lot of holdings and are very helpful. 1. Excellent Genealogy Library Bartow FL
    2. Just to let everyone know of the most amazing Genealogy Library located in the town square of Bartow, FL. The resources there are amazing. Focus is on the southern states, but they do have resources on many of the "other" states. It is well worth a trip. I have traveled 2.5 hrs several times to spend the day there. They have worked on collecting books on counties, cities, etc. relating to historical and genealogy. Tons of microfilm too. You can only take in a pad and pencil..no pens. Lockers are provided for pocketbooks, etc. You can only take so many books off the shelves at a time. You can photocopy for a small fee. DO NOT TRY AND PLACE THE BOOKS BACK ON THE SHELVES yourself. LOL. They frown on that and will let you know about it as I found out. I found it by accident when traveling through there one day and my mouth literally fell open when I saw the resources available. Hope some of you get the chance to go. Susan Barwick Elliott

    3. I have to say many thanks to Geneva Cunningham. In doing her own research she made copies of over 20 marriages at Thomas Co. courthouse. She has scanned these images and posted them at the Thomas Co. archives. These scanned images have a few early marriages in them which are not listed in our early marriages at http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ga/thomas/vitals/marriages/thommarr.txt Be sure to check these out, particularly if you are researching Alderman, Carlton families. 2. Karen Vereen
    3. There is a book on the Ward family by Wofford Hampton Stidham. The title of the book is "The Farm: A Story of Four Brooks County, Georgia Families." The last time I contacted Mr. Stidham, he was an attorney in Bartow, FL & his address was P. O. Box 510, Bartow 33831. The parents of the four Ward brothers was Lewis and Susan Ward. and Mr. Stidham traced Lewis & Susan's ancestors to NC. Also, there is a copy of a Ward family Bible in the Elizabeth Hopkins Collection (FHL/US 0164478). The Bible is in the Jarome Ward Rainey papers and is next to the Kingsley info (my ancestors) as Mary Jane Kingsley married John Ward, one of the 4 sons. 3. In the history book you mentioned, Lewis and Jesse Ward are listed under the heading "Census. Showing Heads of Families in Thomas County, Grooverville District 1840" on page 51. Benjamin Ward is listed under "Heads of Families in Thomas County in 1840 Duncanville District" on page 53. The book is not indexed, so there may be further mention of the Wards in some of the text which imostly excerpts from local newspapers. Reprints of the book may possibly be available through the Thomas County Museum of History, 725 N Dawson St., Thomasville, GA 31792, 229-226-7664. If not they may know where if it still available. Hope this helps.

    3. Mr. White, Thank you for your reply! Your information was interesting and very helpful!!! I finally had a day off today so I went to Thomas County Ga to check out the library again! Last time I went down I did not have the Rehberg name so thought I would try again... I found the Rehberg book! I made lots of notes and will try to get everything caught up soon. Our line definitely is the one you suggested. Unfortunately, I do not have a date for Mary nor do I have anything further back on Jack!. I did get to add information though and will try to see if I can find someone with the Hurst information too. If I do come up with the date for Mary I will get back to you. So it seems we are distant cousins...
