White is such a common name... but if my great grandfather William A. White should ever come into the picture... I have no idea where he is buried. Wherever it may be Mr. Craigmiles did not list it... so my assumption (which could be wrong) is that it is unmarked. On the other hand, though his wife Sarah Spear(s)/Carter/Norton/White's grave is also among the missing... her father, Allen Spear(s) grave, though unmarked, was listed by Craigmiles, and can be found. In other words... in some cases at least... an unmarked grave is not necessarily lost from knowledge. Where can the Craigmiles book be obtained? June Braswell Pinkham--with Braswell, Simpson, White, et al families from Thomas Co.

However, Mary Jane is not listed with any of the Powell burial plots.
Does anyone have any information on a Gandy who married a woman by the last name of Rozencranz? I am not sure if I spelled her last name correctly. She was from Switzerland and married a Duncan R. Mitchell. He died and she later married a Gandy and was buried in Grady County. Does anyone have any information on her? Wendy

Yes, I see that. Maybe my problem is that I have been paying abt 125.oo annually for several years to access records at ancestry.com. Now they come up with this program. Would like to use my records...almost 14,000 individuals and charge you and me for the use of the search engine. Also, I have been reading post at ancestry.com and if you go there you will see many fine points and concerns being made by others about the use of the information and how it will be controlled. It also states that in the future the "submitter" will be able to edit their info. So until then you are totally out of control concerning your info that they have stitched into the OWT. And what does "in the future mean"??? Next month, 2 years from now? My concern is that not enough notice has been given to people with their files posted. I have read and reread many of the statements given at ancestry.com and way too many loop holes seem to still be in the system. Just how many people do you think have been away from their computers for months. When they return they will find their info has been hijacked without their knowledge. That others are now making profit by using their family info to link to others. I think the basic idea is great. But ancestry.com should have approached the submitters in a better way and cleared up a lot of issues before continuing with this project. Just go read at ancestry.com - message boards - ancestry.com (name of board) Thank you, Susan

They are not pulling any of the free records from either Ancestry.com or World Family Tree. This is just a new search engine that searches all the databases and gives you a report so that you don't have to search individual databases yourself. There have been several articles in genealogical publications and online sources - such as Eastmans - and some of the mail lists for counties have posted a reply from Ancestry. The information is way too long to put in this short message. Leslie Please help make sure I have this correct. Then he definitely served as a private in the 50th Georgia Infantry Regiment, Co E. It is unusual that someone who died in Richmond would end up buried back in South Georgia, but by no means impossible. A guy who I know had an ancestor, a lieutenant in the 8th Florida Infantry, who died in Virginia and was buried there.. During Reconstruction the Carpetbaggers sold the widow's farm for taxes. She used part of the small proceeds to have him reinterred at Old Philadelphia Church in northern Gadsden County. The house itself is now part of Nicholson Farmhouse Restaurant between Havana and Quincy in Gadsden County. Two of my great grandmother White's brothers who served in the 29th Georgia Infantry Regiment and died during the war, are buried in the Old Thomasville City Cemetery. It is altogether unclear to me when & where they actually died, so I am unclear altogether as to how they were buried in Thomasville. I wish that we knew the stories... CLARIFICATION - please help correct this misunderstanding if you saw this on other lists. The WorldConnect at RootsWeb, is NOT the same as the one at Ancestry.com (although it's basically the same idea)http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/ You may have seen this note earlier and it applies ONLY to Ancestry.com system. It is my understanding that this system was also in place when it first began, although I've not participated in it, so am not sure. ================================ If you submitted a family tree to Ancestry.com (or MyFamily.com) for free viewing by researchers, that's all about to change. Later this month Ancestry plans to begin charging researchers to view your trees. If you don't want that, you'll have to remove your tree. Go to: http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/trees/owt/ Click on "What's a Preview" Scroll down to #3: Have you already submitted a family tree?
