Lebanon Cemetery in Pavo is just north of the city itself - I did not realize that there were Simmons buried there. My ggg grandmother was named Marium Simmons, married James Wilson in Screven County GA in 1826, she is the mother of my gg grandfather William James Wilson who died in Thomas County in 1907 and is buried in Boston GA cemetery. She was daughter of Samuel Simmons and Mary Newport and had siblings Enoch, Margaret and Moses Simmons. Moses married my ggg grandfather's sister. Most of them were in Thomas County at one time or another. Do you think there is any connection with the Simmons family you are researching? Included in these are the names Leon E. Tschantre and Arnold J. Tschantre, both jewelers. Tschantre is my family name and I have some records on the Tschantres dating back to 1700 in Switzerland. There were several siblings in several generations and my feeling is that many came to the U.S., as did my great grandfather Fritz August (Fred) Tschantre. He was one of 9 children and the chances that one or two of his sisters or brothers emigrated as well are good. Anything I can give you to help in your search your are welcome to. B 56th AL Partisan Rangers. He filed for his pension in Fannin Co. TX. I am trying to find when he enlisted as a scout, also where he was living. He and someof his children were listed in the 1880 Talladega Co. AL census. His first son listed in a 1910 Talladega CO. AL census shows ? Dump ? TAYLOR is listed in Talladega Co. AL Silver Run with 3 children and wife, Beckey TAYLOR, son ROBERT TAYLOR as 13, daughter Synthia (CYNTHIA )TAYLOR as 10 , and son JOHN TAYLOR as 8 years old. We do not know this first child or his family, we know all the other children and all their families. My grandfather had some of his children here too! No one claims to be kin to our Taylor family. My grandfather was WILLIAM THOMAS TAYLOR SR. ! HE was born 1870 in Jefferson Co AL in 1870. He married GEORGIA ADA WILLIAMS. They had several children in AL and then moved to Fannin Co TX. William Thomas Taylor married 3 more times in TX and had a total of 12 children. If you have any information on this family I would love to hear from you. I am told Richard Thomas TAYLOR's father was JOSHUA TAYLOR of GA. I am told we are not kin to the president. Also we came from ANDREW TAYLOR, kin to the ELIZABETH RIVER's TAYLOR's of NORFOLK VA. Not yet confirmed.
