Surnames: Spear Thompson Carter McCrone Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/0d.2ADE/1432.1 Message Board Post: The 1860 Thomas County census shows Mary McCrone, age 50, head of household 892 with 5 children (I didn't record their names) and James Carter (age 24) and wife Sarah (age 15). That was my great grandmother Sarah Spear's and her first husband, James M. Carter. He was listed as "manager". Sarah Spear's sister Nancy Spear married Amon H. Thompson (they are buried at Boston, in Thomas County). I understand that the McCrone and Thompson families were perhaps interrelated. Do you know anything of Mary McCrone and or a connection to the Thompsons...? Thanks Richard White Tallahassee, Florida

Looking for the obituary of ELIZABETH ( BETTY ) GEORGE. Died in January, 1941 in BOSTON, GEORGIA and buried in the Cemetery in Boston. email me at: grannydeck@webtv.net
If John Craigmiles is still on this list, do you still have any Thomas County cemeteries books available for purchase? Quite a few years back it was offered for sale and I can't remember if it included the listings for old Greenwood Plantation of the Jones as Lavinia Young Jones, wife of Thomas Jones, was the sister of my great great grandfather, James Young of Bulloch and Screven Counties. If so, I would really like to purchase a copy. Carole Drexel

His name is Levy George Davis. His date of birth : August 11, 1920, he was born in Mitchell Co., GA. I think his fathers name was Jessie P. Davis, and his mothers name was Molly, or Mollie Collins. At the time of his death, he lived at 2015 Verbina Ave. in Coolidge, GA. 31738. I sent off for his death certificate and they did not list the cause of death. The death certificate states he worked for the City of Albany, in Sanitation (garbage man ?) and that he had remarried a woman name of Musette Owen. He died on July 4, 1997 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. I have that he is buried at Floral Membrial Garden in Albany, GA. Now the problem is he never divorced my mother !!! I need to know the cause of death as my sister and I are developing health problems, and would like to know his cause of death. And finally to see if I have any siblings. I believe his 2nd wife is dead now as well. If anyone can give me any answers or lead ! me in the right direction I would very much appreicate it. Sincerely, Patricia Mare

He died in 1932 when my father was only 6 weeks old. Grandfather was attempting to arrest some men on gambling charges. He was serving as bailiff in Baker Co., Ga. He and another officer were sitting in their vehicle in front of the house where the men were gambling. The men in the house opened fire and shot my grandfather 13 times. His body was brought back to my grandmother's family home where his blood left a huge stain on the hardwood floor. My email is rpate23@aol.com Are you a relative? Please respond. I am always looking for "new" relatives! Rhonda Jarvis Pate

All I have is the photos. Perhaps someone else who is related will answer your posts later. Oops! I was somewhat wrong about not being related. Missouri Shirey who married William Collins, Jr. was a sister of my great grandmother... maybe. There is some possibility that my great grandmother was actually an adopted daughter of their mother, Amanda Rehberg Shirey's sister, Elizabeth Rehberg. But I really know very little about the Collinses. One thing I'm pretty sure of, though, is that you are more likely to get an answer on the Grady County board...
