Surnames: Gates Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BOY.2ACIB/1429 Message Board Post: Looking for information on a family of Gates that lived around Newberry Dist SC in 1800. There was James, Josiah, Alexander, Frances Gates. There were more in the family but do not have their names. James cames to Ga and settled in Bibb Co. Josiah was in Jones Co, Ga and disappeared in 1810, have not been able to find out if he died. Alexander & Framces Gates came to Ga about 1850. Would like to know who their parents were.
