T. Holmes Surrogate at Morrisville December 1st 1853 Be it remembered that on the 4th day of October 1853 Isaac Addington named as executor in the last will + testament of John Gates late of Brookfield in the County of Madison deceased by his petition duly verified + presented to this Court prayed that said will might be proved + admitted to probate, And thereupon the proceeding required by law were had for citing the next of kin of said deceased to appear in this Court before the Surrogate aforesaid at his office in Morrisville on the1st day of December 1853 at one o'clock P.M. and attend the probate of said will. At which last mentioned time + place the said Isaac Addington appeared in support of the proof of said will + furnished proof of the service as required by law of the Citation issued in the matter upon Jemima Gates, Aurilla Addington, Roxana Cushing, Laura Prouty, James O. Gates + Jemima Woolcott next of kin of said deceased. And thereupon the Surrogate aforesaid in open Court took + heard the proof in relation to the execution of said will hereinafter set forth, and by an order duly made + entered on this 1st day of December 1853 he adjudged said will to be a valid will of personal estate and the proof thereof to be sufficient + admitted the same to probate which said last will + testament + proof are as follows viz Will Know all men by these presence that I John Gates of the town of Aurora County of Erie + State of New York being of sound mind + memory do ordain and declare this my last will and testament. First I order my executor herein after named to pay my debts and funeral charges. 2 I order my executor to collect my dues be the same(?) more or less. 3 ly. I order my executor to keep and to hold the same + to appropriate the use of it to the maintainainance of my beloved Mother Jemima Gates as necssaty may require it. 4 ly I order my executor to hav his just dues and when Mother shall hav don with the use of the same, I order my executor to pay the principal to the Methodist Episcopall Michionary Society. Lastly I do appoint Isaac Addington of the town of Aurora County of Erie and state of New York executor of this my last will + testament. Signed, Sealed and delivered this (S.
