Hello. I think we all hope that General Horatio Gates is an ancestor, I know I did. However, I'm afraid he had only one son who died unmarried about the age of 21. I was disappointed when I learned of it, but later learned that _my Gateses came over over 100 years before Horatio and had enough family to fill a book! So you lose one and win a lot. Sometimes, though, those family stories prove true. They are not to be discounted without adequate investigation.
