I am researching the following families in Venango Co., PA. William Kacy Gates b. abt 1850, PA (he shows up on the 1880 census in Venango age listed as 30) d. ? spouse: Arvilla Fetterman (daughter of John Nelson Fetterman and Levinah Grove (b. abt 1851, Jackson Twp., Venango, PA) (There is a gentleman buried in The Los Angeles National Cemetery in Los Angeles, CA listed as W.K. Gates, died 10/7/1903, I PA 55th Inf Plot 4 11/R. I have yet to receive a death cert. to know whether or not this is my William. There is a Private William K. Gates listed in the 55th Regiment PA Volunteers Co. I, he was mustered in Feb. 27 1864, for a 3 yr. term, Prisoner from June 13, to November 28, 1864; mustered out with Company August 30, 1865. Again, I do not know if this is my William Kacy Gates or not. I just rec. the forms to order the records of this soldier.)
