Sharon: I'm not sure if I can be an any help to you, but George and Elizabeth Gates were my great-great grandparents. Their daughter, Jane, was my great-grandmother. She and my great grandfather, Miles Shirk were married in 1864 and moved to Morrison, Illinois. She died on August 31, 1907, and her obituary states that she was survived by one sister and four brothers. They were Mrs. George Elliot of Franklin, PA; James S. and Will Gates both of Cooperstown, PA, G.W. Gates of Marion, IN, and Harry H. Gates of Ammelton, PA. I hope this information is of help.
