Roll call? I'm still here just like I have been for the past 36 years . . . . . . . looking for the parents and location of a John Gates b. ca 1780 NC? who married a Rebecca b. GA 1785 per 1850 census. (No maiden name found for her) First? child b. GA 1809 - John Bedford Gates, m. Mary Ann Everett in MS. She too appears to have been from GA. Don't know county name for either. DNA testing reveals John being connected to a William Gates who came through TN from VA or NC to MS about 1826-27. There is still some disagreement as to William being descended from Charles Gates of VA or from another line out of SC. Any ideas and/or suggestions are welcome. [email protected] [email protected]
