He married Barbara Gates (1825-1880) in Belmont Co. Ohio in 1841. They had one daughter, Minerva (1842-1915) married Samuel Thomas 1862, Belmont Co. Ohio. Later they moved to Monroe Co. Ohio. The Gates family came from Germany to PA. then ventured down the river to Ohio. If anyone has any of the names in their family history, I am interested mostly in Edward Hilgenberg. He came from Germany and was in the German military. I have a picture of him in his uniform. This is the only info I have on him. He may have had a brother in the south, possibly GA. Thanks
