They are listed in the 1840 census in Wesley Township, Washington County, OH. I have also seen her name listed as Kitts. However, I have a copy of their marriage license and she is listed as Susan Gates. Susannah and Alex had the following children: Isaac Benjamin, b 5/21/1836 d 10/12/1894; David Newell b 1/11/1838 d 12/30/1919; Samuel Alexander b 6/27/1845 d 4/3/1911; John Plummer b 6/13/1842 d 9/1/1912; George Washington b 7/3/1844 d after 1905; Maria Jane b 12/3/1846, m John Brooks 12/4/1862, d 6/10/1913; Sarah Ann b 1/21/1849, m Wilson Nugent 3/27/1871, d 6/10/1913; Franklin Pierce b 4/9/1851, m Adda Alexander 3/2/1873, d 3/3/1905; Charles Alonzo b 12/23/1853, m Louisa Jane Alexander 12/29/1879, d 10/1912; William Henry (my g-grandfather) b 6/1/1856, m Ella Maria Cameron 8/24/1881, d 8/9/1941.
