I am a descendant of George Gates (1814-1903) who married Elizabeth Gross (1812-1889). They had 7 children Henry Harrison Gates ( also known as Harry) (1852-1914), William K.(1849), Margaret(1854), Anna, Geoge W., James(1843), and Jane. Henry married Carrie Porterfield. William married Arvilla Fetterman. James married Agusta Hillier. Not too sure about the others. I descend from Henry Harrison, who had a son named Lawrence Emerson who married Olive Oretta Shannon. They then had a son Harry Eugene who married Inez Maxine Shreffler who had a son Hugh. Hugh is my father. If you have any information regarding this Gates family I would love to hear from you.
