Gates, a farmer in Barry County, MI. He had an older sister named Louisa whose married name was Stephenson. She is widowed and living with him on the 1920 Census for Barry County, along with her son, Roy Gates. On the 1910 Census, Silas is married to Mira N. Gates, and they have two teenage sons from her first marriage, George and Bertus Dennis, and two adopted daughters, Frances and Lillian Gates. I think Silas and Mira were married in 1900, but I haven't found a marriage record. She was the former Myra Mapes Dennis, daughter of Albert Dennis of Barry County.

MURDEN 10/07/1863 in Franklin Co., IL. My ancestor, Catharine, married Henry "R" Murden, who was a Civil War soldier and died in the war. They had a child who also died during the same period. These could be the same, with the transcriber transposing the middle initial. But in 1866, she married Daniel R. CHUMLEY in Franklin Co. Her last name is listed as PLUMLEE. (There are no marriage records for Catharine Murden to a Plumlee.) I am trying to determine if these Catharine's (Gates & Plumlee) are one in the same, or two different persons. He is listed as having 2 sons under 10, and 2 daughters under 10. I know he had 2 daughters ,one named Orpha who married Sherman Hinkley, and Minerva , who married Robert Porter. By 1832 he was in Michigan. He's listed in the 1840 and 1850 census in Michigan. In 1860 there's a 13 year old Horatio Gates in the Sherman Hinkley household listed in the census. Victor, Mary and 7 children arrived at Philadelphia, PA, USA on 20 Sep 1811, moved to Pittsburg, PA, USA, then to Muskingum Co. OH, USA by Apr 1814 where he purchased land. Their son Victor was b. abt. 1792, in Dungannon, md. in Zanesville, Muskingum, OH, 19 Sep 1820 to Ann WILLEY. I would like to have more info. on the parents of Victor GATES and Mary HADDOCK.
