Burial will be at Anderson District Cemetery. Mrs. Mason died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at Canyonwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Redding, CA. Born March 15, 1917, in Millard, Nebraska, she moved to Shasta County in 1961 from Sacramento. She was a knitting instructor for Rhodes Department Store in Sacramento, a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include daughter Sharon and son Shannon; brothers Martin Hudson and Robert Hudson; sisters Barbara Christianson and Geraldine Catgenova; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband William Ernest Mason; her parents Martin and Charlotte (Gates) Hudson and numerous siblings.

My Martin Gates, born 1805 Washington County PA, died 1/10/1887 in Medina County, Ohio and is buried there. He had a son, also named Martin, who was born 1/10/1848 and died 1/30/1876 - this Martin was married to Elilzabeth Kulp and they had 2 daughters, Nellie and Ida Mae. When I checked the 1860 Census there were a number of BODEN's shown in OH.

I have Gates from an unknown Co in IN. Michael and wife Catherine, born 1811 KY and 1810 VA, respectfully. Probable that Philip or J.P. Gates, born 1781 in PA, was the father of Michael. There may have been other children of Philip (JP) and Elizabeth Gates in IN also. Michael and Catherine Cline Gates had several children born in IN. One was Frank Gates (Simpson Franklin) in 1837. Does this family sound familiar to anyone?
