I see he is listed as Andrew in the 1860 census you mentioned. When one researcher proclaimed the name was ELIJAH ANDREW JACKSON LOWERY, I figured they must have some verification of the entire name. (Be assured I'm certainly not pointing a finger at anyone! We're all trying to put these pieces together of the Lowery families in the Milan area of Telfair County, GA) When I found the Eli J. on the 1850 Laurens census it seemed to make sense. He was Eli in the earlier census, but perhaps nicknamed "Andy" or Andrew later. Do I have him with the wrong parents? I couldn't imagine Andrew Lowery and Angelany Loftin having two sons named Andrew. The 1850 Laurens census had the Eli J. This same Lowery man and his wife, Susan Studstill had one son named William A. J. (Andrew Jackson?) Lowery who married Permelia Cobb, and also a son, Eli Jackson "Tobe" Lowery who married Mary Vaughn (there seem to be two of these ladies who married Lowerys). Here's what I have listed for his family. Please correct me if I'm wrong: Elijah Andrew Jackson Lowery (b. abt 1828-1830; d. civil war bet 1862-1865?) m. 28 Sep 1853 Telfair co, Ga to Susan Studstill. Children: 1. Tabitha Lowery 2. William A. J. Lowery (1910 Telfair) Census - m. Permelia Cobb 3. Eli Jackson "Tobe" Lowery (2 Jan 1861 - 05 Nov 1932) m. Mary Vaughn. 4. Joseph Lowery 5. Jonathan Lowery It is really his son, Joseph Lowery that I'm trying to find out more about. I think he is my missing link. Is this Joseph Oliver or Oliver Joseph? I think he must have died before 1900 leaving the "widow Ann" and several children. Does anyone know anything about him? One elderly gentlemen I spoke to by phone recently who still lives in Milan, said he thought Joseph and Jonathan either died or moved out of the area. I think Joseph had a son Oliver J. who is listed in the 1900 Telfair census with the widow Ann, and then in the 1910 Telfair Census he is head of household with his siblings. A Dodge County Book has Oliver J. Lowery from Rhine who served in WWI. I could use some help. These Lowery families in Milan, GA are related to either the Lowery's from Laurens County (Andrew Lowery and Angelany Loftin), OR else the line of William E. "Caner" (Elcainer) Lowery and Nancy Helen Malloy who ended up on Dodge County.
