(Elcainer) "Caner " Lowery and he was b. 01 Nov 1867 d. 11 Jun 19108; buried in Dodge Co, and married to Estelle Scruggs. Jeremiah M. Lowery was a son of Andrew Lowery and Angelany Loftin. Jeremiah M. was considerably older -- b. 18 Oct 1822 and d. 05 Dec 1893; buried in Lowery family cemetery in Laurens County. My husband and I have been to the cemetery there and seen the graves. In the booklet by Edsel Joiner entitled, Family Connections Around Sugar Creek, he states that "William Elcainer Lowery was born in Laurens County (1850 Census , Telfair) about 1815. " He furthers says "Andrew J. Lowery who married Susannah Studstill, once lived near him (Caner) in Telfair County and might have been a brother." The thing that has confused many researchers is information from a book on Dodge county history that says Caner Lowery came from Ireland. There has never been any evidence from census records (of William E. and Nancy) that he was born anywhere but GA. It is possible from the time frame involved that William Elcainer "Caner" Lowery could be the unknown son of Andrew and Angelany. I wish there was more information available in the earlier census before 1850. It could answer alot of questions.
