I have a John Jacob Israel Dowdy who was b. 12-9-1861 in Jacksonville, Telfair Co., GA and died 12-24-1941 in Kelso, AR. I show that he was married on 9-13-1884 to Georgia Elizabeth Ella Green and that they had seven children, five of whom are still living. Those deceased are Sarah Jane Dowdy b. 15 Feb 1900 in Inwood, Fayette Co., GA and Bessie Ruth Dowdy, born 4 Jul 1898 in Telfair Co., GA I have no information on a marriage of John Jacob Dowdy and nothing at all on a Rebecca Yawn anywhere near that period. His parents were John Jackson Randolph (Jack) Dowdy [The LDS site shows his name as Jackson Richard] b. 1836 in Rhine, Dodge Co., GA, and d. 10-4-1904 in Milledgeville, Baldwin Co., GA, married 1859 in Milan, Dodge Co., GA to Elizabeth Jane (Betsey) Marchant b. 1840 Telfair Co., GA d. 1909. The parents were both buried in Rockwell Cemetery, Telfair Co., GA.
