How do we know if James Vaughn is James E. Vaughn or James C. Vaughn is correct? I have seen my ancestor James Vaughn listed both ways. Can that be true? The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints web site(Census of 1880) shows a James Vaughn (b. 1833) married to Mary (b. 1842.)They have nine children at home in Telfair Co., GA. There is also a James Vaughn (b.1829) with wife Mary (b. 1830) and they have only two children still at home in Montgomery Co., GA. The source of information is the same.
