I'm going to forward some information to you to see if you come up with the same conclusion I have about this family. The 1900 Telfair census was the first real clue that began to narrow our focus on this Lowery family. There is a Joseph Lowery b. abt 1863 who is the son of Susan Studstill and Elijah Jackson Lowery. Eli was killed in the civil war. They were married 28 Sep 1853 in Telfair County. The 1880 Telfair Census shows: Lowery, Susan age 44 GA GA GA Tabitha age 28 GA William age 27 GA JOSEPH age 17 GA Jonathan age 16 GA E. age 14 GA (Eliz Jackson "Tobe" Lowery) Then I found a Joseph Lowery who married Susannah Parker on 02 Jan 1882. This would be the right time frame to be the parents of Bryan Lowery b. abt 1882 and Cora 15 Feb 1886. I suspect Susannah died, and Joseph remarried "Annie" b. July 1870. She cannot be the same as this Susannah as she would have been only 12 years old in 1882 when Joseph married. I think Annie was his second wife, and Joseph died before the 1900 census where she is listed as "widow." I believe this Bryan was my husband's grandfather. It appears he married Mary Graham in Telfair County 28 Nov 1907, and is listed in the 1910 census with two sons. Mary must have died and he remarried Annie Burkhalter Sep 1911 in Wilcox County, Ga. He lived and died abt 19197 in Milan, GA. Please get back with me and we can compare notes. Jan

According to the 1900 Census, they are living with "widow Ann Lowery". I've been trying to piece together the fragments of this family from Milan for a long time. Bryan, we think, is my husband's grandfather. We believe he married Mary Graham in Telfair County first, and she died leaving two sons. Then Bryan remarried Annie Burkhalter in Wilcox Co, in 1911, but lived and died in Milan, Georgia. How is this Lowery family connected to the Studstills? Is Joseph O. Lowery the son of Elijah Jackson Lowery and Susan Studstill? I found a Joseph Lowery who married Susannah Parker in Telfair County 02 Jan 1882. Did she die, and then he remarried Annie b. abt 1870 who is listed as "widow" in the 1900 Telfair census? Please help me out with this Lowery mystery! Jan
