    1. 338 and 339 militia district Telfair County.
    2. John Dowdy married Georgia Ella Green in 1897 in Telfair County. My ancestors names were John Dowdy, James Vaughn, James Cummings or Cummins, Merchant or Marchant, Fletcher, Studstill and others. Most of these folks are listed on various census records as living in the 339th militia district in Telfair County or Milan. Georgia Green's parents moved from South Carolina to Telfair County after the 1880 census. Georgia was already married to John Dowdy in the 1900 census. Where were her parents located in the county? Where can one get a map or information showing the distance between the militia districts? Looking to find information on Georgia Ella Green's parents location in Telfair County in 1900 and hopefully a date of death for William, H. Green and Sarah Heath Green. Thanks for any help or suggestions. Emma

If you really meant it to go to the Telfair County board, you spelled the name wrong. I have been working on my family line for over 30+ years and have over 500 pages of information. I have studied censuses and other information for my family and I know there has never been any family in the county by a name close to Jeffries, except those related to me. My grandfather moved to the county around 1900 and no family with a name close to ours were ever in the county in the 1800's. My grandfather did have a brother, who lived in the Riverdale section in the Atlanta suburb and he had a nice sized family there, but as far as I know they always spelled their last name Jeffries also. Surnames: Martin- Peacock- Wiggins Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Ad.2ADI/1323 Message Board Post: John William Martin had been married and had some children, after his wife died he married Sarah Catherine Wiggins, b 1883, d 1953. Sara (known as Kate) first husband was Gillium Elbert Peacock b 1827, d 1913. They lived in Dodge County, GA. I am trying to find information on John William Martin - he was my grandfather, buried at Mt. Arara Free Will Baptist Church, Old Cemetery (partially abandoned) in the Chauncey area. My father was Clenon Edward Martin, b. 1916, d.1983. John William Martin was in his 70's when my father was born. He died shortly after my father was born. Sara Catherine was very much younger. He was the only child of John William and Sarah Catherine. Sarah Catherine had 3 children with Elbert Peacock prior to her marriage to John William Martin. I would very much like to contact any of John William Martin's children to gain more information for my family tree. My father's side of the family is a mystery. 3. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints web site(Census of 1880) shows a James Vaughn (b. 1833) married to Mary (b. 1842.)They have nine children at home in Telfair Co., GA.
