John's son Daniel was born in 1833 in Greene Co. AL, and he married Nancy Upchurch in AL in 1832. And I saw somewhere that John was born about 1790 in SC. John and family appear to be very mobile as he was in SC in 1790, AL in 1832 and was in MS in time for the 1850 census. John is listed in familysearch.org as John Jake. I have looked everywhere for this guy and can't find him anyplace but there.

It's possible that Cullen was not living with his parents at age 9, or even missed in the 1860 census. Or he could very well be Simeon's nephew. I'm pretty sure he's not Simeon's grandson; Simeon's oldest son, Peter, was only about 14 years old when Cullen White was born. Unfortunately, I have no information on Simeon's father and can only speculate about his brothers. Dennis White named a son Simeon, and Peter White named a son Dennis, and neither of those were common names in south Georgia in the mid-1800s, so it's a safe bet that Simeon, Dennis, and Peter are brothers. They were all living in Telfair Co. in 1850, as was Minor White. Peter does not have a son of the right age in the 1860 census. I have not found Dennis in the 1860 census. In searching the 1860 census index at Ancestry.com (which I believe is an every name index), I see that there is a Cullen White listed in Georgia. That is, I think, your best line of inquiry. Hopefully it' will be the right Cullen, and he'll be living w/ his parents. I'd look it up for you, except my subscription is currently lapsed so I can't. My White family tree is at: http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=mceachin&id=I0324 If anyone finds any further clues about Cullen, I'd be interested in hearing from you, as it might shed some light on my ggg-grandfather Simeon White. I have had little success about locating this Sandhill Cemetery while attemping to find my grandparents. As a young boy I can remember my dad showing this cemetery and saying his father was buried there. I am now 64 yrs of age and have just stated out doing this so any info that you have on our family will be greatly appreciate. When you can, please reply. Thank you, Fred

They all moved to MS and are found on the 1850 census in Newton Co. I don't know if this will actually work for you because you mentioned the son was born in GA and they lived in Lafyette Co. MS. 3. Hi, everyone, and thanks, Jeanette, for the introduction. I'm looking for information on my great-grandfather, Garnie White b 1894 in Toombs Co, GA, d. 1979 in Zephyrhills, FL. His parents were Willie White and Lindy Williams/White. He married Mary Annie Walker. She is daughter of John Henry Walker, sister to Mattie Lee Spires. Here's the story I have from my grandfather. He said Willie and Lindy died when Garnie was young. Garnie then went to live with Dr. Gray. He also said John Henry Walker's father was "never talked about" and there was a note about the Powers family. Does anyone have information on this? Looking forward to researching with you all!
