Author: SFarmer9302 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.georgia.counties.telfair/2593.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I appreciate your help, but please note that I am not a beginning researcher. I am very well aware that there is a 20 year gap between the 1880 and 1900 censuses. I did find a Green D. Conley in the 1910 Census. However, his name was written as Green D. Comley in that census. This is one of the cases in which it is helpful to search using a wildcard. He can be found in Telfair County, GA in the Pitts District, ED 164. Listed as Family 271, next door to Joseph Conley. I believe this to be the same person as the Green Daniel Conley, who registered for the WWI draft in Sumter Co. His wife is named as Carrie Conley, but she was living in Cordele, GA at that time. Green and Daniel are names that are common to the Conley families that lived in Telfair and Dodge Counties. Green comes from the maiden name of Michael Conley's wife Edna Green. Michael was the first Conley to settle in Telfair Co. Daniel first appears as a name given to a son of Amelia Conley. Amelia was a daughter of Michael and Edna Conley. Since I now have an Ancestry subscription again, I see that in 1921 Green D. Conley and wife Carrie are living at 209 N. Mayo in Americus, Ga. He was listed as a road superintendent. So he did survive WWI. However, I am not able to find Green in Sumter Co. in 1920. Again, as I mentioned to you in a previous reply. I am hoping to find a family member who would have some information, as what I have been able to find on any of the members of this family has been limited. 1. [GATELFAIR] Green Daniel Conley b. 24 March 1882
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: SFarmer9302 Surnames: Conley Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.georgia.counties.telfair/2593/mb.ashx Message Board Post: This is not my direct line, but I am compiling a database of all of the Conley families in Telfair and Dodge Co. I have run into a brick wall. According to the 1910 census of Telfair Co., Ga: Green D. Conley age 26 Carrie age 24 Pauline age 3 William age 1 Upon further digging I was able to find Green's WWI draft registration at the time he was working in Sumter Co., GA and his wife Carrie appeared to be living in Cordele. I looked through my notes and found the following on the same or another Green D. He married Malinda Towns (According to a forum post this was on 17 Apr 1902. I was not able to find a marriage record to confirm this.) They may have had a daughter named Bessie b. 8 May 1903. Another post on Genealogy.com states that Green D. was the brother of John Mose Conley, Lew(is), Tom (William Thomas), and Jim. This implies that he was the son of James M. Conley and Martha Ann Cobb who were the parents of John, Lewis, Tom, and Jim. However, the 1900 census does not list a Green Daniel with James and Martha nor have I found him elsewhere in Telfair County for that census. The post also lists that Green had the following children: Pauline, Horace and Saxton. Since I was not able to locate Green after 1910, I was not able to confirm Horace. I did find a William Saxton Conley b. 27 Dec 1908 in GA and d. 4 Jun 1985 in San Bernadino, CA. Also Carrie Conley b. 9 Sep 1886 in GA d. 13 May 1966 in San Bernadino, CA. I believe these are likely Green's wife and son. I have not found Pauline or Horace. I was not able to find any marriages for Green to Malinda or Carrie in Dodge Co. I only have current access to Telfair Co. marriages up to 1902 and they are not in the list of Conley marriages I abstracted previously. They are not in my Wilcox County list of marriages other. It is likely they married in another county. I am particularly interested in Green's parents and his date and place of death. Info on the children is also appreciated. If anyone has any info on the above, I would great appreciate hearing from you. Thanks. Sandra Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My mother's family is originally from Albany, Georgia. My mother's father was named Jennings Futch McEachin. He was married to Eloise Page and had three children, Jeanie Smith (deceased), Jerry McEachin (living near Atlanta), and my mom, Janet Carol Byrd (Living in Abbeville, SC) My grandmother Eloise lost two children between Jerry and Janet. So there were a total of five children. I believe that this is the family my grandfather is connected with and he died when my mom was in the third grade. He was born in 1907 and died somewhere around 1958. He had a massive heart attack. I have research the family history of McEachin and found it was of scotch-irish descent and it is one of the oldest names in its recorded history.
