Dr. Riley was a member of one of the oldest and most influential families of Taylor County, being the youngest son of the late A.H. Riley and Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Mitchell Riley. Besides a faithful and devoted wife, Mrs. Mattie Neisler Riley, who is postmistress at Butler, and two daughters, Misses Miriam and Elizabeth Riley, Dr. Riley is survived by the following brothers: A.H. Riley, Ordinary of Taylor County; J.W. Riley, former postmaster here; former sheriff M.L. Riley and Mr. Pickens Riley; also one sister, Mrs. J.T. Gray, all of this county. Dr. Riley was about 40 years old and until his health failed him was one of the most successful druggists in this section of the state, and a prominent man in the business affairs of Butler. He was a person to make friends easily and numbered his friends by his acquaintances and the news of his death will bring sorrow to the hearts of many.
