John Adams is sharing some information about the State Troops -- which I think you'll find very interesting. I was so excited to see it. These are the ones that we rarely get information on. Please, if you know any more about these men, share -- and pass it along to anyone you know who might be helped. http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ga/taylor/military/civilwar/rosters/5thstatecof.txt John included so much information about what they actually did. (And this is also hard to locate). You'll recognize these names I know! The Georgia State Troops were volunteer soldiers in state (rather than Confederate) service from October, 1861 to April, 1862 as defenders of the Georgia coast. Many companies enlisted as a unit in the Confederate army after their six-month term in the Georgia State Troops ended. These records can be viewed at the following Web Page: http://www.sos.state.ga.us/archives/what_do_we_have/online_records/default.htm
